After the Bite: An Argeneau Novel (An Argeneau Novel, 35)

The Argeneaus are back! New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands returns with another sexy, passion-filled romance about everyone's favorite vampires.

Immortal Enforcer Valerian just wants to relax. His last assignment had been more grueling than he'd care to admit, and golf has always helped him unwind. If golf course owner Natalie thinks it's a little odd for him to tee off at sunset every evening, she's keeping it to herself. The single mom is sexy as hell, and her little daughter Mia only adds to his delight. He knows Natalie is wary of a relationship of any kind…what will she think when she discovers he's an Immortal? His best course of action is to woo her the old-fashioned way.

But the course of true love never did run smooth-especially for a vampire and a mortal. And when danger stalks Natalie, Valerian realizes he's playing a game of life and death and if he loses this round, he risks losing her forever.

A Lynsay sands book is Allways a good read. The mark has once again been met And the family of friends meet through series has grown bigger. I love to go to lynsay's world. Wouldn't it be grand too live there for the most part.

This author continues to impress me with her ability to make each story of the Argeneaus new and refreshing. I absolutely love that we got to see some of my favorite characters in action again, and how can you not adore sweet baby Mia and her great furry champion. Not to mention her mother, who has been put through the wringer, and yet has kept her gentleness and willingness to share her affection. Valerian is alpha to the core, but he’s also a big marshmallow when it comes to this family of three, well, and his boisterous sister who I can’t wait to see find her own HEA. The author is the queen of action and suspense, and she rounded out the story with a bad guy that I never saw coming. This PNR was absolutely amazing and it made me want to go back and start from the very beginning with book one, so I can get to know this wonderful family all over again.

Valerian, Scottish enforcer working/ golfing in Canada met his life mate, Natalie and her daughter, Mia, only to realize they were in the scope of a wannabe ' Angel Maker' serial killer. With them, especially Natalie, surviving a wine poisoning, the shooting of Sinbad the huge white dog, her untimed knowledge of Immorals, Alex's assistance in her kitchen and the cookbook deal/partnership, and her stabbing by Anothony/Tim over sharing his bigamist, dead father's inheritance with them , Nat and Mia, she was turned to live out her HEA with Val at Shady Pines Golf Course and Scotland. Great storyline with holes in the plot revealing the imperfections of Lucian and Valerian's detective/ searching capabilities, but the characters and dialogue were entertaining. The theme Of ' money is the root of all evil ' flowed through this novel with Tim/ Anthony's 'Three-on-One Mind Wipe' as the perfect consequence for his attempted murders and greed. A fun, 'not-gravity- defying', Fall read! 09/27/22- 10/02/22 COVID-19 WCMD22 Inktober22.

After the Bite is Lynsay Sands' THIRTY-FIFTH Ageneau novel, and she has definitely not lost her mojo! Meet Valerian MacKenzie, a Scottish (thank you little, tiny, baby Jesus) enforcer who works for Garrett Mortimer taking out rogues-gone-wild, and Natalie Moncreif, a chef turned golf course owner, mother, bearer of past trauma drama, and one ferociously driven woman. You know what they say... play 18 holes with a person and you're bonded for life... okay, maybe it's rescue someone near the eighteenth hole...nope, they don't say that either... whatever, it should be a saying. No matter what, After the Bite is undoubtedly an amazing Argeneau addition and a great overall read. There is enough mystery, romance, and fantasy to satisfy most readers with a heaping scoop of serial killer to fill in the gaps. *Note - A recurring thought I had while reading After the Bite - I can't wait for Valerian's sister Aileen's book - surely, I'm not the only one!!! I said at the beginning of the year that I wanted to acquire the rest of the Argeneau series this year, and I really need to get moving on it. This was everything I expect a Lynsay Sands novel to be: humorous with heat, heart, and action, all with her unique twist on vampire lore. I mean, a vampire on a golf course? Love it! Single mom with an adorable little girl and a ‘polar bear’ for a dog? I’m not even a huge fan of kids, but I’m totally there for it. (And I love when animals are included in romance!) Lynsay’s blend of PNR is just so refreshing and fun; not dark or super heavy, and even though it’s PNR, the characters and the family dynamics feel real. Natalie and Valerian’s story is no exception. Valerian is patient, wanting to woo Natalie the right way, and Natalie, while guarded (understandably), figures out in the end that she doesn’t have to be quite the workaholic she is, and that re-opening her heart again doesn’t have to be a devastating endeavor. Five fabulous stars!
