Big Snowman, Little Snowman (Disney Frozen) (Step into Reading)

Walt Disney Animation Studios presents an epic tale of adventure and comedy with Frozen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a young dreamer, must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, and his reindeer on the grandest of journeys to find Anna's sister, the Snow Queen Elsa, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes, and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction. Directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan) and produced by Peter Del Vecho (Winnie the Pooh, The Princess and the Frog), the comedy-adventure Frozen journeys into theaters in November 2013. Girls and boys ages 4–6 will love this Step 1 Step into Reading leveled reader based on the film.

Arrived quick and love these books for my kiddos. They are the perfect books while learning to read.

same frozen story. you need to actually know the story first, have seen the movie, or read the golden book at least, before reading this book. this book does not tell the story. i't's like little excerpts with easy to read sentences that rhyme and focusing on opposites. For example, "Kristoff goes IN... then OUT again". My almost 4yo daughter LOVES this book. the pictures are great. and she is starting to recognize some of the sight words. i point at them while reading to her. i usually am asked to read this book at every bedtime and requested to read it as many times as i would allow it. Actually I'm just going to include the entire text of the book here, i will capitalize as done in the book. Each line is the text presented on 2 pages facing each other (there are 32 pages). HAPPY sister. SAD sister. At first, Hans seems nice. Elsa runs away. She makes the snow and ice! Anna gets ON her hourse. Ride, Anna, ride! Anna falls OFF. It's cold outside. Anna meets Kristoff. His reindeer is Sven. Kristoff goes IN... then OUT again! Anna and Kristoff go, go, go! Sven climbs FAST. Anna climbs SLOW. Elsa has a palace. Anna enters FIRST. Kristoff enters LAST. Elsa freezes Anna with an ice blast! COLD Olaf dreams of the HOT, HOT sun. LITTLE snowman. BIG snowman! Run! Run! Run! Anna is freezing! She is worried, too. She asks a troll what to do. Watch out! Hans attacks! Anna is in FRONT. Elsa is in BACK. Winter ENDS. Summer STARTS. Anna's act of love has thawed her frozen heart. Olaf APART. Sisters TOGETHER. Elsa, Anna, and Olaf... friends forever!

Unlike some (many?) of the other Step 1 books, "Big Snowman, Little Snowman" rhymes and has a nice, simple rhythm to it. My three year old loves finishing the sentences.

If you're looking for a book all about Olaf, this is NOT it. It's the whole Frozen story (severely abridged, 29 pages). The wording of the story focuses on opposites. Dead smack in the middle of the story there is a random page with Olaf sunning himself on a beach. I've seen a few different level 1 readers like this. The "World of Reading" books seem to have a better storyline.
