Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives

It's an all-new horror classic about what happens when the truth is the last thing we want to believe, from Bram Stoker Award–winner and master of thrills and chills, horror legend Adam Cesare.

After barely making it out of the Kettle Springs cornfields alive, Quinn's first year away at college should be safe and easy. All she wants is to be normal again.

But instead, Quinn finds that her past won't leave her alone when she becomes the focus of online conspiracy theories that claim the Kettle Springs Massacre never happened. It's a deranged but relentless fantasy, and there's nothing Quinn can do to get people to hear the truth-not even on her own campus or in her own dorm room.

So when a murderous clown attacks Quinn at a frat party while another goes after her father in Kettle Springs at the same time, Quinn realizes that the facts alone are never going to save her. Her only option is to go back into the cornfields, back where the nightmare began, to set the record straight the only way she knows how. Because when the truth gets lost in the lies, that's when people start to die.

Clown in a Cornfield was 2020's Bram Stoker Award Winner for Superior Achievement in a Young Adult Novel. Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives is perfectly set to attract old and new fans to the series.

Editorial Reviews

"In this fun, frenetic sequel, Cesare tackles mob mentality and misinformation, and the return of Frendo oozes with old wounds and angry conspiracy-fueled grudges. With the rising body count and nonstop action, the pace will feel familiar to slasher fans as it delivers satisfying fight and death scenes." - Kirkus Reviews

"Cinematic and blood soaked." - Booklist

"This book is a violent and timely tale with thinly veiled yet compelling subtext that should resonate. It's a breakneck slasher sequel that doesn't waste any time getting to the action and suspense." - Bloody Disgusting

"A perfect extension of the world Cesare created in the first book... will thrill readers of any age." - Rue Morgue Magazine

I got this book in the mail today and couldn’t wait to start reading. Once i started I couldn’t stop. I finished it in a few hours and wanted to grab the first one and read both of them all over again. You care so deeply for these characters, these flawed and scarred teens. I spent the entire book with dread, terrified about what would happen to these characters we care so much for. That’s what makes a good horror book. I hope to eventually put Clown in a Cornfield 3 on the shelf too.

Wow! I was excited when I found out that this was coming and got enough money to preorder it the week before it came out. It took a few days for me to get to it, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. I read it in 6 hours straight. Go get this book! You won't regret it! ***Spoilers Ahead*** The author wastes no time in getting to the action, throwing our favorite survivors right back into peril, along with another survivor we haven't heard from before. They face a larger threat this time, one ripped from our current population. Q Anon and Sandy Hook truther types, coming to dispense their own version of justice. The next generation will be the ones to save us!

I won’t lie — social media marketing works on me. I picked up the first “Clown in a Cornfield” after seeing a TikTok from the author talking about it, and it ended up being completely different from what I expected and one of the best books I’ve ever read. I immediately pre-ordered this one, and, man, I’m glad I did. I binged this thing in a single day, because it was impossible to put down. I didn’t know you could build on a masterpiece in such a great (and narratively timely) way, but here’s this book to prove me wrong. Evoking the emotions I wanted to feel from “Halloween Kills” after the perfection of “Halloween (2018),” this is what a sequel needs to be. I have no clue where the story could go from here, but I’m ready for more from Kettle Springs.

Omg this book was amazing! Reading about their lives after the Baypen Massacre and then it being turned upside down by Frendo again was a wild ride and I loved it! That ending though!!! That ending!! I loved the first book but I love this one more. Quinn, Cole, and Rust each are doing their best to live their lives as normal as they can after what happened in Kettle Springs but that’s all about to come crashing down once Frendo makes a comeback and he’s not alone. Some people believe what happened in Kettle Springs was real and some believe it was a hoax? Was it real or was it fake? What do you believe? All I can say is Adam Cesare doesn’t disappoint in his writing and his story lines and I swear if there’s a 3rd book I’ll be pre ordering and screaming happily.

Quinn, our final girl from the first book, made it out of Kettle Springs. She went back to Philadelphia for college and thought the clown massacre from a year prior was behind her. A conspiracy theory, complete with documentaries and online forums, that spreads lies about how the clown massacre actually went down has made her and her fellow survivors the stuff of internet legend. A clown in a familiar mask returns … twice! One shows up at her dorm for a party in Philadelphia and another one attacks her father hundreds of miles away in Kettle Springs at the same time. Now, it’s up to Quinn to live long enough to set the record straight. This book was a ton of fun. It felt like a perfect continuation of the first one, and it left me hungry for a third one. The YA feel lingers throughout the book, but it is full adult-level slasher fun.The conspiracy angle wasn’t as powerful as the themes in the first one, but the new dynamics carried the book through 416 fun-filled pages. There’s twists and turns aplenty that give this book an air of mystery - almost like Scream but not quite the same. I particularly love that Adam Cesare is a major horror buff (read: nerd) and packed in so many awesome horror tropes. Definitely recommend!
