Dark Whisper (Carpathian Novel, A)

Embrace the seductive call of the latest novel in Christine Feehan's #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian series.

Vasilisa Sidkorolyavolkva is a Lycan of royal blood. She knows what is expected of her, but all she wants is to be out from under her family's watchful eyes. There is a fire inside her that is building. A restlessness coupled with a sense of growing dread. Every day she feels the weight of the legacy passed down through generations. The prophecy that says a man will come to claim her as his mate, and that she will guard his soul. She knows nothing about him except that he is hers. But nothing seems real until the night she meets him in the flesh....

Afanasiv Belan is a Carpathian, an ancient one. In all the centuries of his existence, no one has ever affected him like Vasilisa. He can see into her mind and feel what is in her heart. They are so alike, warriors bound by honor and plagued by secrets. They both know they must reveal the darkest parts of their souls if they hope to survive and protect the ones they love.

But if they claim each other as lifemates, it will change them down to the bone. They will become something more-something feared by both of their kinds....

I did enjoy this story but why oh why are we still losing a quarter of the book on healing chants and the language of carpathians when it's at the back of all the other stories please stop just annoying now

I have been quite critical of this author in several of the previous books in this much loved, long running series but with this latest instalment I am delighted that gone are the 50% worth of mindless sex & endless repetition. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest book, great story, old & new characters plus a female lead every bit the warrior as her lifemate. I especially enjoyed the equal footing they stood on without any of the usual overbearing ' you will obey me ' rubbish So welcome back Ms Feehan of old, you have been missed As always my advice is to start with the first book in this series as they follow on from each other and follow a timeline, if read as a stand alone your enjoyment will not be the best Enjoy 😉

Another great. Honestly books can’t come fast enough for me in this series. This book was nonstop action from the first chapter all the way to the end. And in this one we get to meet real Lycan royalty. Seriously amazing the gifts that they have. We have met Vasilisa in a previous book. And now we know more about her and the other half of a soul that has been passed down through the women of her family into her. And it is her that has met her Carpathian lifemate. Afanasiv is one of the ancients of the Carpathian people, and he has finally met his life mate. She is a fierce warrior and a protector of her people along with her brothers. There is evil everywhere and now they all must come together to defeat it. Not only Lycans, but many Carpathians. They must work together to keep the gates closed of the underworld. The book was nonstop action, and if you were a fan of the series we get to see glimpses of favorite characters from past books. The characters just come to life, and you can feel the heartache, the sympathy, and the love they have for family and friends. Of course there is a happily ever after but just enough that makes it hard waiting for the next book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 I have read every Carpathian book and always eagerly await the new one. These books have developed into a world of sensuality and danger that is mesmerizing. Dark Whisper is yet another heart-pounding adventure into the Carpathian world. Afansiv Belan, or “Siv,” is another sexy, dark, alpha male ancient that stole my heart. Siv was a fantastic character. Vasilisa Sidkorolyavolkva has been trained since birth to battle the evil that desires her species extinct. Vasilisa always knows she holds the other half of a Carpathian male’s soul. Vasilisa is also something “more.” Siv and Vasilisa’s dynamic has much more give and take than many Carpathian mates. The couple respects each other’s abilities. I loved both Siv and Vasilisa. Their connection felt unique. Siv and Vasilisa were very much partners and Siv, being an ancient, did an admirable job letting Vasilisa be herself. I loved the development of the couple’s relationship, and their journey was stunning. The passionate connection was palpable. Around seventy percent of this book is battles and action. I loved it, but at times I felt the paranormal outshone the romance. I would have liked more sensual and personal moments between the couple added to the plot. That is a personal preference. This book was a page-turner. There was battle after battle. I loved seeing some fan-favorite couples from previous books help Siv and Vasilisa. Dark Whisper is the thirty-sixth book in the Carpathian series. I advise reading these books in order as they build upon one another. Christine Feehan has proven with this book why she is the queen of paranormal romance! This book is edgy, gritty, and sexy. This was a page-turner that will keep you up late! I did not want this incredible journey to end. Dark Whisper is yet another jewel in the crown of the Carpathian series. This epic saga of books creates a world I want to visit again and again. I am impatiently waiting for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
