Gods & Monsters (Serpent & Dove, 3)

Evil always seeks a foothold. We must not give it one.

The electrifying conclusion to the New York Times and Indiebound bestselling Serpent & Dove trilogy is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Kendare Blake.

Lou has spent her whole life running. Now, after a crushing blow from Morgane, the time has come to go home-and claim what is rightfully hers.

But this is no longer the Lou her friends knew. No longer the Lou who captured a chasseur's heart. A darkness has settled over her, and this time it will take more than love to drive it out.

From Serpent & Dove to Blood & Honey and concluding with Gods & Monsters, Shelby Mahurin's stunning fantasy trilogy delivers thrills and romance.

"A breathless, breathtaking continuation of the magical world Mahurin has created pits the strength of love against the need to protect those one loves…at any cost. Would you lose your soul to save someone else's? Blood & Honey doesn't just address this question; it slams the reader into the story - and that existential question - in a brilliant, unending roller-coaster ride." -- Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of Small Great Things and A Spark of Light

Praise for Serpent & Dove: "Drips with intrigue and shadow." -- Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

"Will cast a spell on romance fans." -- Kirkus Reviews

"Mahurin has taken the witch and witch hunter trope and made it new again. The world-building will draw in readers and Lou's strong but wistful nature will keep them turning pages." -- School Library Journal

Ok so this was a whirlwind of emotions from the get go I binged this in two sittings because I needed to find out when they would find out about Lou and then when that was resolved Reid lost his memories so it was just a constant struggle🤣 especially since Reid had just started to accept himself as a witch Beau and cocos back and forth digs were so entertaining 🤣 Beau and his no filter charming mouth became one of my favourites characters I loved the relationship between him and Lou and his brotherly affections toward Reid I was a bit dubious when it came to the waters and hoping it would heal Lou and I thought maybe that it would be too filler but I loved the twist that it was Constantine that guarded it and ansel and Lou finally getting closure was something I didn’t know I needed Also cocos mother being Angelique was not something I was expecting but I loved how the stories from serpent and dove were involved it was a nice twist! Célie was an unexpected addition to the gang but was surprisingly a nice fit, I loved how she came out of her porcelain shell and stood up for herself I love a bit of girl power! The last 150 pages were just amazing and really redeemed the series for me and had me on the edge of my seat! I think my favourite thing about Lou is her passion for saying the most inappropriate things at the worst times🤣 iconic That epilogue was just perfect I really could not have asked for a better ending and it was so nice that it was from ansel as perspective. I didn’t really understand the purpose of ansel dying but it really became clear we needed to see Lou and coco overcome their grief and grow from it Overall I enjoyed this a lot more than blood and honey but serpent and dove still reigns for me!

An amazing conclusion to an excellent series! I loved this final book in the series. It was equally as good as the ones before. The same amount of adventure, wit, and character development. I loved the “twist” of a “second chance” at “slow burn” romance in this story..,Just when you thought the relationships was secure the slow build of new-found passion starts again-brilliant! Ok now - STOP HERE AS THE NEXT COMMENT CONTAINS A MILD SPOILER. But really…did we have to lose one of the most promising characters of all of them? My heart is still broken. The End.

Wow this book was fantastic. A fitting ending to the series that got me obsessed with YA fantasy. Serpent & Dove is one of my all time favorite books and Shelby just keeps getting better. The new characters are just *chef's kiss* and Beau and Jean Luc and Celie just...continue to win my heart. And of course Reid and Lou and Coco. Shelby knows how to write flawed, believable, engaging, wonderful characters. I can't even talk about this story coherently without spoiling anything so just go read it. You won't be sorry! So good. 5000 stars.

• 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 • 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Gods & Monsters 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Serpent & Dove #3 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿: Shelby Mahurin 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆ 4.5/5 I think this book wasn’t as good as the first one, but it was super close! I think it wrapped up everything nicely and it worked out well in the end (even though it felt a bit bitter sweet and I definitely couldn’t keep my tears away). This book was a great mix between love, hate, action and all the emotions. And when I say, all the emotions I mean all the emotions, breaking my heart, stomping on it and then healing it again. The pace of this book was better than the last one, it kept me interested enough and I was just immersed in this world. I think this series just works for you or it doesn’t and for me it worked. S&D is still my favourite though! All in all, I loved this series, it is very good and I think it got the ending it deserved.

What a great ending to a great series! Blood & Honey was a bit of a let down to me. It didn’t have the magical feeling I got reading Serpent & Dove. This book was so much better than B&H. Lou was so much better. I definitely got behind her decisions and I just loved her in this book. There were some sad moments. Everyone is still dealing with the grief they feel towards Ansel’s death. Lots of action and hilarious banter thanks to Beau, who I adored. He does not get enough credit. Some characters redeemed themselves. You get a bit of a backstory on Nicholina and discover how she became the person she was. We get some new allies. A little spice. The romance and passion between Reid and Louise was so heartwarming. The friendships between Lou and Coco and the rest of the gang made this book. There were a couple new characters that gained entry into the circle and I LOVED it. There was a certain scene that completely broke my heart and no lie, I cried. The epilogue was just.. so sweet and I’m so thrilled that there was a happy ending. I laughed a lot, I cried, I cheered, I yelled, I raged, and I smiled so wide reading this. Seriously, read this book. It definitely redeemed the disappointment of Blood and Honey and this was a perfect ending.
