An unusual girl. An enigmatic man. An ancient castle. What could go wrong?

An outcast her entire life, Corvina Clemm is left adrift after losing her mother. When she receives the admission letter from the mysterious University of Verenmore, she accepts it as a sign from the universe. The last thing she expects though is an old, secluded castle on top of a mountain riddled with secrets, deceit, and death.

An enigma his entire life, Vad Deverell likes being a closed book but knowing exactly everything that happens in the university. A part-time professor working on his thesis, Vad has been around long enough to know the dangers the castle possesses. And he knows the moment his path crosses with Corvina, she's dangerous to everything that he is.

They shouldn't have caught each other's eye. They cannot be. But a chill-inducing century-old mystery forces them to collide. People have disappeared every five years over the past century, Corvina is getting clues to unraveling it all, and Vad needs to keep an eye on her.

And so begins a tale of the mysterious, the morbid, the macabre, and a deep love that blossoms in the unlikeliest of places.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and so many more!! Okay here’s the thing I actually haven’t read this author before and I’m sitting here like what the frick have I been?! Under a rock, trapped in a cave, head in the sky who the frick knows cause I definitely don’t!! if you haven’t read this book..WHY NOT?! I am kicking myself that I didn’t find it till now, what kind of Bookstagrammer am I?!🥴🙈 It’s amazingly dark! Incredibly beautiful! Steamy as frick! Creepy, interesting, captivating and addictive! I just want more and I know that makes me greedy cause it’s finished and perfectly so but damn I am a greedy book wh0re who needs this book in my life for, forever!! Our leads are Vad Deverell and Corvina Clemm, the chemistry is out of this world hot, amazing, beautiful and forbidden! Vad 😮‍💨🥵 the most dangerously, smoking hot male lead I have ever read. He is a walking mystery that I couldn’t wait to delve into. The whole university are intrigued by him cause he keeps everything to himself, no one knows anything about him and oh how most want to. (Myself included) The castle on the mountain is his sanctuary, his mystery, his life but when the girl with the purple girls comes along will she cause havoc or bring him to his knees like no other has? He has waited a long time for the girl with the purple eyes and he will not let her go, no matter the risks. Corvina beautiful, magical and my spirt person! 🥰 This girl is beautifully unique, some would say she hasn’t had it easy but she would say she’s been deeply loved. She is happy, but is ready for more. She wants an all consuming love that is hers to keep and his to own. She experiences some of the most unexplainable things, it’s creepy, it’s amazing, it helps and it hinders feelings. When she sees him she can’t deny the attraction, she is wary because of the rumours but not even hell itself could keep her away from this man! So many twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. Can tell that this author writes with her whole heart and soul! I literally could have quoted this WHOLE book🖤 I could also keep going on and on but I seriously recommend running not walking to Amazon and grabbing it for yourself! Then hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

The gothic romance genre has been a favorite of mine since I was a preteen. The blend of horror and the macabre, mystery and the supernatural, romance and the erotic - it is a combination that has remained absolutely timeless to me. The problem is, good gothic romance is an art that few (in my purely biased and subjective opinion) are able to pull off well. So it should come as a surprise to no one that I was admittedly nervous going into RuNyx's Gothikana... in large part because the hype of bookstagram and booktok has a tendency to make me incredibly suspicious. The good news, though? The hype was real this time around. I left this book feeling seen and thoroughly satisfied. Where it counts most, RuNyx delivers. For my fellow gothic romance junkies out there, rest assured that Gothikana hits pretty much all of the beloved beats and tropes one would expect in a gothic romance: • A seemingly haunted castle that's practically a character in its own right. Verenmore is imposing and full of secrets. • The supernatural - we've got the suggestion (I will neither confirm, nor deny if they actually exist) of ghosts and witches. • We've got a perpetually dark atmosphere - the spooky Verenmore, the ominous woods surrounding the university, a dark and murky lake, ruins with empty graves, and all the storms you could ask for. • A mysterious stranger who becomes our dark and brooding hero (or anti-hero) of the story. Vad Deverell is enigmatic, intense, erotic, dangerous, and full of just as many secrets as Verenmore itself. • Death. So much death. And curses. And an old secret society that is responsible for said-curse. • Is it the supernatural or is it psychological? • Romance and the erotic as a means of sexual self-discovery and actualization for the heroine. The romance between Vad and Corvina is really the crux of this gothic romance, if not the driving force of the plot. The emotional intensity between these two serves as a catalyst for our heroine's growth and self-discovery, but it also heightens the tension and increases the stakes of the climax. And that whole "I see you" bit between them is just... more on that goodness in a minute... • Finally - madness. I can't get into this one too much without spoiling key points of the story, but suffice it to say, madness, or rather the subject of mental health and it's inherent connection with horror plays an integral role in this story. Now let's talk about the "I see you" bit. I wish I could dive into the events that lead up to this point in the book so you could enjoy its full impact, but suffice it to say there comes a point where Corvina realizes that Vad - for all his mystery and darkness - he is the first person to truly see her for who she is - all of her shades and shadows, all of her demons, all of her potenti...
