I'm pretty much devouring this series and HEARTSTOPPER VOL 3 makes for a great addition. Charlie and Nick are officially dating but haven't come out to their friends yet. But a school trip to Paris provides them the opportunity to learn more about each other, both the happy and the sad. There are some heavier topics addressed in this volume and they're not fully explored or resolved (since the story isn't over) but I liked that Oseman has her characters at least talking about their struggles and starting to reach out. I also enjoyed seeing the relationships between Tara and Darcy, Tao and Elle, and even the two teachers chaperoning the trip.

I swear these chapters get better and better as the comic progresses. Alice Oseman is an artist and Heartstopper is just one of her many masterpieces. Nick and Charlie are the cutest couple as well as all of the background characters and their relationships. If you're not already reading this series stop what you're doing and go read it!!! You won't be sorry.

So this is basically a review of all 3 volumes till now. I loved this story though it is definitely a YA novel. Despite this it has cross over appeal. All the MC’s are believable and the story hits on all the good stuff. AQueer love, confusion, the perils of coming out, bullying, destructive coping mechanisms. Also the story is cute and the pace is right. Now the buts.....all the good stuff is quite superficial but I guess for a graphic novel it does alright. Also it really bothered me how all these queer people start emerging. I get it it’s trying to cover all types of queer love but it felt a bit overkill to me. As someone who identifies as queer it’s just a little too kumbaya for me. Still pre-ordered volume 4 though

TW: self harm, eating disorder This is definitely my favorite volume so far. Vol. 3 is more series than the first two. It deals with coming out, talking about self harm and eating disorders. It only just brings these things up though. I feel like the next volume is going to shed more light on these topics. Nick and Charlie go on a Paris trip with their school in this volume! It was so much fun getting to read about them going on a trip together. I love that their adventures are fun and exciting. I don’t want to go into too much detail. I feel like since graphic novels are so short, it’s easy to give away important details that are spoilers. 5/5 Stars
