Murder in the Family: A Novel

ONE BODY. SIX EXPERTS. CAN YOU SOLVE THE CASE BEFORE THEY DO?

Mega-bestselling British crime novelist Cara Hunter makes her big American debut with a wholly immersive thriller like none you've seen before: written as the teleplay of a true-crime documentary, it has the reader puzzling away, reviewing photos, maps, coroner's reports and other evidence as they read. The exciting multi-narrator audiobook features five actors telling the story from different perspectives. Can you tell who's lying?

"An excellent, wholly original whodunnit! You won't have read a mystery like this, and you'll be kept in the dark right to the end." --Gilly MacMillan, bestselling author of The Long Weekend

It was a case that gripped the nation. In December 2003, Luke Ryder, the stepfather of acclaimed filmmaker Guy Howard (then aged 10), was found dead in the garden of their suburban family home.

Luke Ryder's murder has never been solved. Guy Howard's mother and two half-sisters were in the house at the time of the murder-but all swear they saw nothing. Despite a high-profile police investigation and endless media attention, no suspect was ever charged.

But some murder cases are simply too big to forget…

Now comes the sensational new streaming series Infamous, dedicated to investigating-and perhaps cracking-this famous cold case. Years later a group of experts re-examine the evidence – with shocking results. Does the team know more than they've been letting on?

True crime lovers and savvy readers, you can review the evidence and testimony at the same time as the experts. But can you solve the case before they do?

"This book had me riveted to the page. It is original, inventive and totally 21st Century, but with no compromise on thrills and tension. In fact, the drama is so perfectly executed I felt as if I was actually in the moment with these characters. The twists are magnificent! It really is an equal triumph of style and content. Just brilliant!'

I read this book on kindle and thoroughly enjoyed the different approach taken. I largely had no issues although some of the writing can be a little small in the images. Initially you can click on some images and make them bigger which I thought would continue through the book but didn’t. Towards the end there should have been an image of a newspaper advert, I believe, which wasn’t shown and was instead a previous image of a map we’d already seen. All other images were correct though

First off this was very gripping and made me want to keep reading. Now the big problem came with the newspaper articles on the last 2 pages, these were impossible to read on kindle because they could not be enlarged. I ended up finishing reading on the laptop which made it clearer. Glad i did because these rounded the story of nicely. All said and done i would recommend this book.

Another book in the Fawley series. Set in Oxford, a town with which I’m very familiar. The book follows a similar theme to all the previous themes. The only disappointment is that the ending I feel is somewhat rushed. I just feel a bit more detail is needed to identify the guilty party.

I am a huge fan of the DI Fawley books so was excited to read this new standalone. I didn’t read any reviews or summary of the book before downloading! It was on a kindle daily deal so I just bought it! I really didn’t like the format when I first started the book and it took a good few chapters before I was more focused on the plot / story than the format. It was a good read and I enjoyed it. I have to admit I wasn’t overly keen on the format. Mostly due to the fact that even with my glasses on I really struggled to read some of the newspaper extracts and other pieces that weren’t simple text. I nearly missed the twist at the very end as I couldn’t read the newspaper articles and was about to give up when I tried on the kindle app on my phone and was able to enlarge them and read the articles!! Might just be I have an older kindle making it harder to see the non text items. I’m glad I read it, but not sure I’d have paid the full price.
