Not That Duke: A Would-Be Wallflowers Novel (Would-Be Wallflowers, 3)
The Duke of Huntington has no interest in an eccentric redhead who frowns at him over her spectacles…until he realizes that she is the only possible duchess for him. A new enemies-to-lovers romance by New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James.
Bespeckled and freckled, Lady Stella Corsham at least has a dowry that has attracted a crowd of fortune-hunting suitors-which definitely doesn't include the sinfully handsome Silvester Parnell, Duke of Huntington, who laughingly calls her "Specs" as he chases after elegant rivals.
And then-
The worst happens. Marriage.
To the duke. To a man marrying her for all the wrong reasons.
How can Silvester possibly convince Stella that he's fallen in love with the quirky woman he married?

Funny, sexy and great for a tall, spec wearing lass. Wish this had been around during my teens. Nice characters with a few baddies. Fun.

What a fantastic book! Truly in love with Silvester and Stella! An incredible addition to this collection and my favourite so far! Great moments of laugh, tender, sweet love and...Specs! As a cat lover, I simply adored Specs! Fingers crossed we will learn about Blanche as well. A must read!

Spoiler Alerts for previous book. But please read The Reluctant Countess again before starting this one. You'll thank me later. I loved that Silvester got his own story. I had liked him in the precious novel, The Reluctant Countess, for the respect and affection he showed Yasmin as a friend. And all along I had thought he was pretending to want to marry Yasmin in order to get his friend Giles to propose already. But unbeknownst to the reader, he actually was truly vying for her hand when he discovered an inconvenient attraction to Stella. It was surprising as he had not seemed that enamored of Yasmin as anything other than a friend. That's my only complaint of the book. I wanted to smack him on the shoulder when he then decided that if he couldn't have Yasmin, he'd pursue Stella. She deserved better than to be second choice. Any woman does. So even though he proposes, Stella could still feel his attention is elsewhere. It shouldn't have surprised him that she felt second best, yet it took him far too long to realize what he was doing. Of course! Those silly men! The characters are drawn so vividly and fully that you find yourself living in their shoes. Eloisa, beautiful writing as always, drawing the reader in and leading them into the hearts and minds of the flawed yet oh, so perfectly paired characters in your books. I did so love the dowager (She's probably who I would have been in another life) and even Stella's aunt deserves kudos when she's not throwing her own expectations onto Stella. I, too was once a Stella, and yet I became the Dowager. Confident and pretty and worth every bit.

Eloisa James has once again woven her magic with "Not that Duke," delivering a heartwarming and delightful Regency romance that leaves readers utterly enchanted. From the captivating characters to the engaging storyline, this novel is an absolute treat for historical romance lovers. Eloisa James has an exceptional talent for creating multifaceted characters that breathe life into the pages. Each supporting character is thoughtfully developed, adding depth and charm to the story. The historical setting is beautifully depicted, immersing readers in the opulence and elegance of the Regency era. James's attention to detail is commendable, making every scene feel authentic and transporting us to a bygone era. The narrative flows effortlessly, striking a perfect balance between heartfelt emotions and lighthearted moments. The plot's twists and turns keep you engaged, never knowing what to expect next. I found myself flipping the pages long into the night, unable to put the book down. Furthermore, "Not that Duke" explores deeper themes of identity, societal pressures, and the importance of staying true to oneself, adding a layer of substance to the enchanting romance. This depth of storytelling elevates the book from a simple romance to a profoundly satisfying read. I love the characters of Stella and Silvester. Stella was the heroine I had been waiting to read and I love that Silvester finally came to his senses! As a longtime fan of Eloisa James, I can confidently say that "Not that Duke" lives up to her legacy and is an excellent addition to her impressive repertoire of romance novels. Whether you're new to her work or a devoted reader, this book is sure to leave you with a warm and satisfied feeling. "Not that Duke" is a beautifully written, swoon-worthy romance that will capture your heart and leave you with a smile. Eloisa James once again proves herself as a master storyteller, and I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a charming escape into the world of love, laughter, and happily-ever-afters.
