Picnic in Someday Valley (A Honey Creek Novel)

New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas continues her charming and heartwarming series set in Honey Creek,
Texas, a little town nestled in the rolling hills bordering the Brazos River, where friendship and love are always close at hand, ties run deep, and lives intersect in unexpected ways…Filled with Jodi's characteristic warmth, endearing characters, and authentic Texan flair, this story about a quiet cowboy and the local outcast adds layers of complexity and pathos to the continuing saga of this little town.

New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas welcomes readers back to the picturesque Texas valley that cradles the town of Honey Creek…

Benjamin Monroe is pretty sure how his life will play out. He'll continue teaching chemistry in his small college, and spend his free time biking through the valley. Eventually, he'll retire to putter around in his garden and greenhouse. His colleague, Virginia Clark, is not one for routines. She's chatty, spontaneous, and bubbly, and before Benjamin realizes what happened, she's talked him into collaborating on a research project-studying the mating habits of college students.

Ketch Kincaid, one of Benjamin's star students, returned to college after serving in the army. He needs something to get his mind off his recent breakup and collecting research data might do it. And there's another distraction on the horizon-a woman who looks like she, too, knows about heartache. Soon enough, their project, "The Chemistry of Mating," is gaining notoriety. Friends, neighbors…the whole town has become involved. But no matter what the data determines, one conclusion seems inescapable: love follows its own rules…

--Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW on Lone Heart Pass

"I fell in love with this small town with its secrets, residents who are, for the most part, good-hearted, and characters who came alive on the pages quite easily. The writing is smooth, the plot interesting, and the people we meet are as diverse as can be found in any small town across the country."
--Keeper Bookshelf on Breakfast at the Honey Creek Café

"Immediately Jodi Thomas draws the reader in, with intriguing characters in the middle of odd situations right in the middle of a little dusty town in Texas...Two things Jodi Thomas does well. Makes a small town in Texas come alive and she writes characters who are warm and very likable. The plot has some mystery, some romance, and sheer good-hearte...

The first book in this series was enjoyable so I decided to read the next book. The overall story takes you from your own existence into the lives of the inhabitants of Honey Creek. It is easy to feel like you are a fly on the wall watching & listening to the tales of small town life.

Marcie is back singing at the bar, Brand comes to listen. One night she is being harassed by drunks and Brand takes her to her home. Later the drunks show up and are trying to get in and Brand returns and takes on all the men. This is the start of their story. Colby is back in town and Piper doesn't seem to really want to spend time with him. There is a huge storm the they spend the night working at the fire department/sheriff office. Pecos is a dispatcher at the sheriffs office and his new wife is expecting to deliver the baby any day. Her parents don't like Pecos, but he really loves her.

I love this series! Jodi Thomas is a phenomenal story teller. You love all the characters. Pecos is amazing. Love the mayor. I love how “broken people” are SAVED! A real feel good story.

Jodi just continues the great stories! These people — you gotta love them! Piper and Colby can’t seem to get their love life straightened out. But finally do. Pecos and Kerrie are anxiously awaiting the baby. And finally that baby arrives much to the new parents delight. Kerrie and Pecos have a deep and abiding love that will last a lifetime. Marcie and Brand are a delightful and refreshing couple - both damaged by life but finally find their true soulmate. Jesse and Adalee have the beginnings of a beautiful love story - complete with kids and animals galore. There is a criminal element in the story but they get their just rewards in a perfect way. You will laugh, cry, smile, cringe, and celebrate while reading this story. On to the next story in this series ……
