AN INSTANT BESTSELLER!

"Thayne's characters are multidimensional people who care not only for those near-and-dear but also for others who need help, and this lovely romance offers a gentle depiction of many family challenges."-Booklist on Summer at the Cape

From the beloved bestselling author of Season of Wonder and The Cliff House comes a poignant and uplifting novel about forgiveness, family and all the complications-and joy-that come with it

As the older sibling to identical twins Violet and Lily, Cami Porter was always the odd sister out. The divide grew even wider when their parents split up-while the twins stayed in Cape Sanctuary with their free-spirited mother, Rosemary, fourteen-year-old Cami moved to LA with her attorney father. Nearly twenty years later, when Cami gets the terrible news that Lily has drowned saving a child's life, her mother begs her to return home to help untangle the complicated estate issues her sister left behind.

Navigating their own strained relationship, Cami readjusts to the family and community she hasn't known for decades, including the neighbor who stands in the way of her late sister's dream, while Violet grieves the loss of her twin and struggles to figure out who she is now, without her other half, as the little girl Lily saved pulls her back into the orbit of the man she once loved.

With poignancy and heart, RaeAnne Thayne once again delivers her charming signature blend of warmth, wit and wisdom.

Life can be so fragile. Our words can truly haunt us forever. If we always speak with a loving heart and keep the anger to ourselves, the world would be a better place for all.

I usually like all things by Ms. Thayne. Unfortunately this book began with a death, and pretty much everyone talked about the person, and remembered the person, and FINALLY we got some more hopeful insights into those left behind. I REALLY wanted this to be more like the cover. Flip flops, the ocean, a new Glamping camp, and all things that fit into that mold. While there was some happiness from the Glampers...it just was more somber than I'd like for a summer beach read. Even the romances were tinged with sadness. I really hope everything works out for them all. The conclusion was good, but again, sadness and more sadness before resolution. The epilogue really helped. Without that, I'm afraid this would have been a 2* review. I struggled to finish this book and that is NEVER me! I'm committed to each book I begin. I do enjoy Ms. Thayne's writing style and although this book was pretty much a miss for me, I'll continue to read her books. Everyone has something that works for them and this just wasn't it for me.

Summer at the Cape is the next book in the Cape Sanctuary series. I fell in love with the town of Cape Sanctuary after reading the first one and look forward to new releases. This one definitely didn’t disappoint. This story was about the Porter family, consisting of three sisters, Cami, the oldest and twins Lilly and Violet. Cami was estranged from the twins and her mother after their parents divorced. Cami stayed with her dad in Los Angeles while the twins went with their mom. Years later Lilly drowned saving two young girls and her mother has asked her to come help straighten out some legal issues with Lily’s Wild Hearts luxury campground. Her sister Violet is having issues dealing with her twin’s death along with her unresolved feelings for her old boyfriend. Cami is having concerns with her busy life as a lawyer. Maybe coming home to Cape Sanctuary is the right thing to do. This was a wonderful tale of family, friends, community, love and second chances. I found myself tearing up several times, but I definitely couldn’t stop reading. Looking forward to seeing who we’ll read about next in this awesome little town by the Pacific Ocean.

When her parents divorced, Cami moved to LA with her attorney father. Her younger twin sisters, Lily and Violet, stayed in Cape Sanctuary with their mother. Cami never had a chance to really know her sisters since most of the time when she visited her mother, the twins were away visiting their father. When Cami learns of Lily’s death by drowning while saving two young girls, she returns to Cape Sanctuary for the funeral and to help her mother with a legal issue regarding Lily’s business venture, intending it to be a brief visit. The more time Cami spends in Cape Sanctuary with her mother and Violet, the closer they become. She meets their neighbor’s son, Jon, who returned home to help his ailing father and who is trying to shut down Lily’s dream at the end of the current season. Her divorced parents are suddenly communicating more than before. Violet has run into her first love, who broke her heart when he married her high school nemesis, yet finds she still has feelings for him. A story of family dynamics, tragedy, grief, loss, heartache, second chances, new beginnings, and three HEAs. You might want a box of tissues nearby.

After Lily's heroic death as she saved Ari and Ella, the remaining women of the Porter family, Rosemary and Violet, rekindled old romances and Cami and Jon found new love over Franklin's diminishing mental faculties. The outcome was predictable as forgiveness of past wrongs and enjoying the present moments was the ebbing theme throughout. A Fair ! 12/24/22- 12/25/22 COVID-19 Xmas 2022
