Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him--and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the stunning The Folk of the Air trilogy filled with twists and enchantment, as one girl learns the meaning of true power when she finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.

I dont like to write book reviews but I was very upset with the hype this book received. Don't get me wrong. It's good. There are a couple of surprises but the "tension" between the characters is lacking. It was very hard to get through the beginning of the first book with her trying so hard to set the scene of this new world. I actually skipped a lot of the descriptions of what these characters were. I think this would have been better written if they added more to the dialogue and less on the scene.

my package arrived exactly two days after purchase which was amazing. when unboxing it was easy, the set came wrapped to protect the cases. the books were in perfect condition, there is no bending or tears on the sleeve or books themselves. i’m not sure what else to say but hopefully it helps

First of all, I love the covers and the art work. The worldbuilding was very good, though some creatures were mentioned and never described. It would have been nice to know what those looked like. I found the characters flat, especially in the first book. They are vapid, shallow and 2-dimensional. Jude is angry. Cardan is a royal brat, Taryn is a people pleaser. Locke is a drama king. The bullying in the first book seemed childish and below the ages of the characters. They ALL seemed immature. Thankfully, I kept reading and they got much better in the 2nd and 3rd books, but that first one was a slog. The characters deepen, especially Jude and Cardan. They become far more interesting and complex, and they are great together. The plotting of the 2nd and 3rd books was excellent, and I really loved all the court intrigue. I didn't see any problems with pacing. The extra stories included in this set were good and provided interesting alternative POVs. Overall, I enjoyed the series, I just wish the first book was a bit easier to get through. Sometimes it was just frustrating to read. The snake was a nice touch.

If you're looking for SPICE this is not it. Just a FYI. Not detailed or graphic if you're a smut reader like me. The story though is GOOD. I found myself getting pissed and giddy through out the series. I love the folklore and how it woven into this storyline. It was well created and thought out. Decadent written. But I repeat if you like detailed spicy scenes this is not for you. Haha but story is really good regardless.
Great books for people of many ages. Previously purchased The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King on kindle. With the release if the third book, I decided I liked them so much I would purchase the physical box set as well. Very enjoyable books. I highly anticipated the release of The Queen of Nothing and was not disappointed, except for the sad feeling you get when a good story ends.
