Originally bought a couple copies of this book on the Isle of Lewis and knew I should have bought more copies when I got home as it makes the perfect gift for Scotland lovers. Not only does this book contain humble, authentic recipes, but it is full of stunning, high impact visuals and delightful stories that make a great snapshot of Hebridean culture in particular. As an American there are a few challenges with regards to the measurements and some of the ingredients which aren't as easy to find here, but in my opinion it is wholly worth it. Highly recommend this incredible book over all of the other generic Scottish cookbooks I've come across.

I LOVE Coinneach. He is so sweet and has so many great recipes. His tik tok inspired me to start learning Gaelic. I love to see Gaelic at the beginning of the chapters and the translation. The pictures are beautiful and I can’t wait to try everything. The reason for 4 stars is the book seller did not package this book very well and it was damaged during shipping. I still love the book but I’m mad I spent like $30 and got a damaged book.

I follow Coinneach Macleod on TikTok and he is engaging, funny and posts great content. When his cookbook was published I wanted it right away. I buy many cookbooks and this one is really in my top 10. What I liked is that they are different recipes and he adds context about the area and the recipes..so I learned something. The recipes make a reasonable amount and I don't have to cut everything in half. I would encourage buying the book and supporting this great Chef. I can't wait to travel to the Hebridean Islands.
