The parts in between the meat of the story are boring, long winded, and VERY poorly written; the author somehow seems to have no voice. The editing is atrocious — as in, sometimes pronouns and verbs like is/are don’t agree, which is painful to read. I know I’ll like the movie better, and I won’t read another book by this author.

I recommend the story of the Gucci family to anyone who enjoys a biography of famous families. The book is well written, detailed and educational on European patents and court.the story includes tragedies and family problems for those interested in mystery plots. Its all there in one book. The movie version with Lady Gaga playing Lady Gucci will be a movie I want to see.
Extremely detailed and yet often confusing. I knew nothing about the high end fashion world of Italy and France. Now that I know more I can only shake my head in disgust, horror, amazement, and disbelief. How can a world of such beauty and elegance be so monumentally ugly?

This story is very detailed about family that wants to continue, in different ways, to keep a brand name going. The author did a lot of research and did a great job. I loved this book and can’t wait for the movie with Lady Gaga and Adam Driver. It’s surprising how much can happen in one family. You never know what happens behind closed doors!

It was a very well written, well researched book on the history of Gucci. A bit more complex when talking about take overs, mergers, and legal issues , but exploring the history and the ultimate death of one of its namesake is fascinating. A real life rich and famous profile.
