The Missing: A Novel

"The Missing has a delicious sense of foreboding from the first page, luring us into the heart of a family with terrible secrets and making us wait, with pounding hearts for the final, agonizing twist. Loved it."-Fiona Barton, author of The Widow

A harrowing psychological thriller about a missing teenage boy whose mother must expose the secrets within their own family if she wants to find her son-perfect for fans of Reconstructing Amelia.

You love your family. They make you feel safe. You trust them. Or do you…?

When fifteen-year-old Billy Wilkinson goes missing in the middle of the night, his mother, Claire Wilkinson, blames herself. She's not the only one. There isn't a single member of Billy's family that doesn't feel guilty. But the Wilkinsons are so used to keeping secrets from one another that it isn't until six months later, after an appeal for information goes horribly wrong, that the truth begins to surface.

Claire is sure of two things-that Billy is still alive and that her friends and family had nothing to do with his disappearance.

A mother's instinct is never wrong. Or is it…?

Combining an unreliable narrator and fast-paced storytelling, The Missing is a chilling novel of psychological suspense that will thoroughly captivate and obsess readers.

The ending had an unexpected twist. The authoress managed to capture the anguish of a family of missing child and the conflict that takes place as a result.
I really really enjoyed this story & loved C. L. Taylor's writing style! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because there was such a long lead up to solving the mystery (which was fine), but the ending happened all so quickly it felt out of place. I did really enjoy the story though. Now I'm on to The Lie!

Good book with a surprise ending. My only complaint, or perhaps more of a question, is why the author felt it necessary to use so much foul language and sexual garbage. The book would have been great without it. I probably won't read any other books by this author.

Frankly I forgot to write a review for this book but still remember it after reading at least another 30 books, many of which I can't remember even the ending as they simply weren't worth reading. This was a good book, well written, exciting and although the ending was rushed sometimes that's preferable to a long winded two or three chapters as to why..........

Wow, wow, wow. What a all emotions on the table book. One I could not put down. It takes you right up to the very end & wham your mouth hangs open & say you never saw that coming! A 5 star plus!
