The Other Miss Bridgerton: A Bridgerton Prequel (Bridgerton Prequel, 3)
#1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn presents the third novel of the delightful Bridgerton Prequel series in a stunning new package.
There were Bridgertons before the eight alphabetically named siblings, and in this novel, we go back to where it all began. . .
She was in the wrong place...
Fiercely independent and adventurous, Poppy Bridgerton will only wed a suitor whose keen intellect and interests match her own. Sadly, none of the fools from her London season qualify. While visiting a friend on the Dorset coast, Poppy is pleasantly surprised to discover a smugglers' hideaway tucked inside a cave. But her delight turns to dismay when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain's bed…
He found her at the wrong time...
Known to society as a rascal and reckless privateer, Captain Andrew James Rokesby actually transports essential goods and documents for the British government. Setting sail on a time-sensitive voyage to Portugal, he's stunned to find a woman waiting for him in his cabin. Surely, his imagination is getting the better of him. But no, she is very real-and his duty to the Crown means he's stuck with her.
Can two wrongs make the most perfect right?
When Andrew learns that she is a Bridgerton, he knows he will likely have to wed her to avert a scandal-though Poppy has no idea that he is the son of an earl and neighbor to her aristocratic cousins in Kent. On the high seas, their war of words soon gives way to an intoxicating passion. But when Andrew's secret is revealed, will his declaration of love be enough to capture her heart…?

Great characters, fun plots to follow, another Julia Quinn Bridgeston delight. She just can’t write these fast enough for me. In between reading non-fiction or contemporary murder-mystery novels I love mixing in a few historical romance novels and in particular something as well written as a Julia Quinn romp. This was at one minute funny, then dangerous, romantic, about family values and relationships, a little of everything. Although you always anticipate the happy ending you know is coming, what is fun is trying to figure out how they are going to overcome all the obstacles, twist and turns the author throws into their paths. It provides for an entertaining, enjoyable read well worth the investment in my opinion.

The Other Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn is one of the most enjoyable historical romance I've read lately. I give this outstanding book five-stars just for the humor. I couldn't help laughing at the banters between Poppy and her privateer, Andrew. They are both intelligent, kind-hearted, and adventurous. There two characters plus, the minor ones made this an unforgettable journey. A journey, that I never wanted to leave. I knew it had to come to an end. However, I loved this fictional world Julia Quinn penned so well. I felt like I was there experiencing it all first hand. From the moment Poppy was kidnapped from being in the wrong spot at the wrong time to her and Andrew arguing back and forth. Then to follow them as they slowly fell deeply in love with each other. Both tried not to and we all know how that goes. Usually, it ends in an explosive sort of way. Fireworks, that how I would describe them. Beautiful, entertaining, and amusing...

I have enjoyed reading about the Rokesby brothers who married Billie and Poppy Bridgerton. I also loved the book about Edward Rokesby in New York during the Revolutionary War. I am now looking to see if there are other novels that I haven't read yet about their younger brother Nicholas and sisters of Billie and Poppy. Julia Quinn is one of my three favorite authors. I am so glad she chose to be an author. Her books have brought me so much joy and laughter! She has a wonderful sense of humor!

I ADORE this book! (BTW, on my favorite covers EVER.) I had heard some negative things about it, but I can't seem to figure out why because it was so enjoyable! I loved the intelligent, verbal sparing between Andrew and Poppy. I love me some flirty banter and this book had loads of it! Poppy is kidnapped and ends up on Andrew's ship. She thinks he's a pirate but he's really undercover for the English government. He was born and raised a gentleman and that's exactly what he is to Poppy. They spend about half their time on the boat and the other half in Portugal and then the very end in England. The story could have gotten very boring during the boat scenes, but I felt like Ms. Quinn progressed their relationship to friends who hold each other in respectful esteem then to having their crushes form for one another in a way that was not boring. Their time in Portugal itself was quite exciting. She has them be forced to separate and I had so much anticipation about their reunion that I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out how it was going to happen! I'm really looking forward to the final book in the series! There's one brief sex scene in the very last chapter and a brief hand job a chapter or two earlier. Neither are very descriptive.

Julia Quinn is in my top five favorite authors of all time. I adore most of her books (with one or two exceptions, which I still liked, just didn't love), and this one was no different. I loved Poppy. It took me a while to figure out how she thought, because at first she did or said things that didn't totally correspond to what I would have expected, but once I found her slightly offbeat pace, she made sense. I like the the hero was a genuinely good person, with the notable exception of having kidnapped her, of course. I enjoyed the quirky secondary characters. All in all, once I started reading, I didn't want to stop. My only big question which remained unresolved throughout the book was, after a week or two wearing the same clothes and without bathing, how did Poppy not smell like a barnyard? I certainly would have!
