True stories told by real heroes. Police officers don't have jobs...what they do is a service that too often does not come with the respect they certainly deserve. This book provides insights to what motivates these men and women, the care they have, and the burdens they carry.

I love James Patterson but was very disappointed in this book. It’s very small snippets without the emotions or reality of what happens in these departments. It’s like reading the police report for an incident, not at all what I was expecting.

I've never read a James Patterson book before, but if this one is any example, I've been missing out. This effort packs a big punch. You will find yourself very engaged. These numerous in-their-own-words stories are sometimes literally bone-chilling in their authenticity and demonstrate a level of courage and dedication in the line of fire, from small to large, that is both inspirational and entertaining. The tactics, the detective work, the heartbreak, the wiliness and honest desperation and commitment of all involved depict a true insider's look at jobs the majority of us would never dare do. I learned a lot. Fortunately, I have a few more stories still to read.

These individual stories of law enforcement officers show the stress that they encounter everyday in the line of duty. They show the tenacity and compassion for the victims and the young people they encounter. These are the 90% that bring dignity to the job!

Walk The Blue Line by James Patterson and Matt Eversmann is a collection of short but impactful stories of the experiences of law enforcement professionals from across the country. These stories describe in the Officers own words, their doubts, fears and decision making process during events that many people will never experience beyond reading or viewing a sensationalized news report. Many of the Officers in this collection of stories entered law enforcement after Military service or had a family member in law enforcement. Some entered after a positive interaction with a Police Officer. The commonality among all the Officers in this book was a desire to serve and this collection describes their service and the toll it takes on all involved. The subtitle of this book "they walk the line between life and death" is an apt description of its content and the reader will come away with a better understanding. Recommended.
