Lee Tobin McClain delivers an engaging, sweet romance set at a summer camp for troubled teens. McClain weaves an intriguing backstory for Hailey Harris. A true example of a life changed by Christ. I loved the way McClain started Hailey and Nate’s story. They were part of the same circle of friends—friends that thought they would be a perfect match. Yet, their own weaknesses and insecurities kept them from being open to romance. McClain introduced a secret about Hailey that Nate learned only because of his position as a pastor. This secret was a wonderful plot twist that will delight readers. I enjoyed the way the author kept this going and resolved it at just the right time. I am a dog-lover (have two of my own fur-babies), so including an emotional support dog for a pivotal minor character, one of the campers, became one of my favorite parts of the story. I would strongly recommend this book for fans of clean, sweet, Christian romance. This story has plenty of interesting tropes and twists. Bravo for writing about a single pastor too! Genre: Christian Romance, Inspirational Romance, Contemporary Romance Location: Colorado Romance: Very clean. Light kissing. Faith: Light references to Christian practices. Main character is a pastor. Disclaimer: I requested and received an advanced copy of this book courtesy of Harlequin (Love Inspired) through NetGalley. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

A Friend to Trust by Lee Tobin McClain A special K-9. A troubled child. Can their bond heal the past? Pastor Nate Fisher is confident he can handle a bunch of teenagers and ignore his attraction to camp codirector Hayley Harris for the summer. That is, until he learns a camper with an emotional support dog is the child Hayley placed for adoption thirteen years ago. When a misunderstanding brings Hayley and Nate closer together, keeping the secret becomes impossible. But will the truth reunite a family…or destroy Hayley’s trust forever? This is Hayley Harris and Nate Fisher's story. “Mom! You said Mr. Stan would be in charge here.” The boy’s anxiety-laced words made Hayley Harris look up from the paperwork she was frantically trying to complete on each new camper at the Bright Tomorrows Residential Academy’s summer camp. Standing above her at the outdoor check-in table was the ninth teen boy in the group of twenty-eight campers. All young teenagers, and all somehow at risk. The one in front of her appeared to be about thirteen, tall and lanky, and he was looking worriedly at his frowning mother. Hayley pushed back her hair. Why hadn’t she brought a ponytail holder? It was hot in the afternoon sunshine. “Stan is running behind today, but I’m sure he’ll be here any minute. Meanwhile, your name?” Nate Fisher walked in. Or maybe strode was a better word. Marched? Nate was a pastor, but he carried himself like the soldier he’d been. At six feet tall with dark hair and eyes and a strong jaw, he was good-looking enough to draw the eye of every female in the room. The combination of nurturing pastor and tough veteran was irresistible. I recommend reading. A Friend to Trust by Lee Tobin McClain is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lee Tobin McClain. I enjoyed my third trip to Bright Tomorrows Academy - this time for summer camp. Although this K-9 Companions book is the third of Author Lee Tobin McCain's contributions to that multi-author series. Although some of the characters from Lee's earlier books Her Easter Prayer and The Veteran's Holiday Home are in A Friend to Trust all three books can be read as stand-alones. In all three books, the characters are well developed and facing real life situations like ESA dogs, adoption, and keeping secrets. I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
