I Guess I Haven't Learned That Yet: Discovering New Ways of Living When the Old Ways Stop Working
When everything we've been clinging to falls apart, how do we know what to keep and what to let go of? I Guess I Haven't Learned That Yet is a clear-eyed look at where we go from here--and how we can transform our lives along the way.
Just after her fortieth birthday, New York Times bestselling author Shauna Niequist found herself in a season of chaos, change, and loss unlike anything she'd ever faced. She discovered that many of the beliefs and practices that she usually turned to were no longer serving her.
After trying--and failing--to pull herself back up using the same old strategies and systems, she realized she required new ones: courage, curiosity, and compassion. She discovered the way through was more about questions than answers, more about forgiveness than force, more about tenderness than trying hard.
In I Guess I Haven't Learned That Yet, Niequist chronicles her journey--from her life-changing move from the Midwest to Manhattan to the power of unlearning what is no longer helpful and accepting the unknowns that come with midlife, heartbreak, and chronic pain.
With her characteristic candor and grace, Niequist writes about her experience learning how to:
Discover new ways of living when the old ways stop workingEmbrace the challenges and delights of releasing our expectations for how we thought our lives would lookTrust God's goodness in a deeper, more profound wayFollow Niequist as she endeavors to understand grief, to reshape her faith, and to practice courage when it feels impossible.

--Kate C. Bowler, New York Times bestselling author of No Cure for Being Human

--Annie F. Downs, New York Times bestselling author of That Sounds Fun

Shauna has experienced deep disappointment and sorrow. Her words will resonate deep within you and bring a soothing balm to your weary mind and soul. If you think no one understands what it means to be a woman in today's world, think again.

Shauna’s best work yet. She is helping us all feel a bit less alone in these narrow, starved days.

Vulnerable and honest. Not filled with answers but the journey and it's true beauty even when it's not.

This is Shauna's best book so far. I read it in one day and want to reread and highlight it. So much wisdom and life lessons applicable to myself a 40 something Christian woman. Its very applicable coming after a 2 year period of the pandemic. Will recommend to others!

This book is not about having a bad day. I have had my share of those. This book is about devastation. I have also experienced devastation. It is like being run over by a freight train that then backed up and ran over you again and for some unknown reason you live. You live even when you don't want to live. This book beautifully and honestly looks at pain and suffering. No sugar coating. No quick fix. Each chapter is like picking up a treasured sea shell. The nuggets of truth are meant to be held close to the heart and hear the whisper of God's amazing grace and love. I thank you for short chapters. Healing comes little by little - in small doses. Thankfully it does come.
