It's not a big book, but it packs a lot of punch with regard to character development. Particularly the Bruce Wayne and Edward characters. How their storylines crossed from time to time, which will lead eventually into their clash in the film. You also learn about Alfred's backstory and how he reluctantly agrees to support this life of crimefighting. Other characters that may or may not appear in the film are sprinkled throughout, but they help to build Bruce Wayne's character as well as the world itself. I don't think it's a necessary read, but it never hurts to get a better analysis of the criminal mind than in the written form. Juxtaposed with the detective mind of Batman.

As a person very much looking forward to The Batman, I bought this book hoping for some insight into the coming movie. The treatment of the characters is overly simplistic (even given that the book is written for a youth audience) and uninteresting. The character motivations are nonsensical. I am hoping that none of the backstory included in this book is part of the movie.

Being the Batman fan that I am this was a must have. It gives a decent backstory for some characters and events leading up to the Batman movie this year. I will say though I was a bit disappointed knowing the story was a bit on the short end, but it was a little teaser before March 4. If you need something to build more hype for you (Not that you might need it lol) check out The Batman prequel novel.

This book was such a cool dive into the psychology of Bruce’s early days of the mission without spoiling anything for the film. Great fun for readers of all ages, and great poster you can easily remove at the back of the book

This was such an awesome read and the last page left me with chills!!! I would 100% recommend to all Batman fans! 😄
