Bloodmarked (2) (The Legendborn Cycle)
The powerful sequel to the instant New York Times bestselling and award-winning Legendborn-perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare and Margaret Rogerson!
The shadows have risen, and the line is law.
All Bree wanted was to uncover the truth behind her mother's death. So she infiltrated the Legendborn Order, a secret society descended from King Arthur's knights-only to discover her own ancestral power. Now, Bree has become someone new:
A Medium. A Bloodcrafter. A Scion.
But the ancient war between demons and the Order is rising to a deadly peak. And Nick, the Legendborn boy Bree fell in love with, has been kidnapped.
Bree wants to fight, but the Regents who rule the Order won't let her. To them, she is an unknown girl with unheard-of power, and as the living anchor for the spell that preserves the Legendborn cycle, she must be protected.
When the Regents reveal they will do whatever it takes to hide the war, Bree and her friends must go on the run to rescue Nick themselves. But enemies are everywhere, Bree's powers are unpredictable and dangerous, and she can't escape her growing attraction to Selwyn, the mage sworn to protect Nick until death.
If Bree has any hope of saving herself and the people she loves, she must learn to control her powers from the ancestors who wielded them first-without losing herself in the process.

I was a bit scared it was not going to be as good as the first one and it's actually better? No time to breathe, this book will keep you awake until the end!

This is way better than the first book, even considering that I was getting kind of annoyed at Bree when she kept jumping in the middle of things right after deciding she wasn't going to. If you liked the first, I would recommend this! Also, I like Selwyn more than Nick

Did this live up to my expectations? I think so because I had it a bit low because sequels are mostly a miss than a hit it seems but this is the book where Bree has to struggle and she does, a lot. I was getting frustrated with her for her poor decisions but I expect her to grow a lot from this sequel. There is a lot going on with the story, some I loved, some I thought maybe was too much but the story ends in a cliffhanger so we shall see what happens next. As for the love triangle? I don’t know where this it’s gonna go but I’m ready for it. Overall, I was entertained even though the middle got a bit slow for me. I felt like this story could be made into a Netflix series, I’d definitely watch it! I’m excited to see what happens next.

Where to start… first things first I must say THANK YOU! Thank you for your mind, your story telling, every page you wrote, just thank you. I truly tried to take my time reading this but I failed ultimately. Bloodmarked was breathtaking good! Tracy will never get below a 5 star rating from me. The story, the characters, the history, the modern real time struggles, and the magic was brilliant! Bree is my girl. Her struggles, her outburst, her attitudes, her wits, her strength, her softness, her resilience, all that she’s gone through is admirable. At the age of 27, I look up to Bree. I wish I was Bree. This book has touched my heart in more ways than one. Each character has a special place in my heart. Selwyn Kane has proved to me all over again on why I love him. William is my soulmate. Alice, my sweet Alice, brains and beauty. Nick a constant reminder on who he is and who he will always be, a gentle touch. The new characters were a beautiful added touch. Gosh, I can go on about this book forever. Please read this book if you haven’t. This book series is marvelous and I am beyond excited to reread it!

Legendborn maniac syndrome is BACK for this stellar sequel!! Oh wow did Tracy really take us on a JOURNEY with Bree in Bloodmarked. I love how the book sort of immediately picks up not too long after the end of the first book. We immediately get to me new characters who I found either amusing or I wanted to put them in a chokehold! Watching the students in the society and bree go through even more grief with the loss of friends and members in book 1 and at the same time bree trying to figure out how take up this new role she has. Right off the bat, loved William in this. We got to see sooo much of his caring but stern nature while also silently going through his own grief. He is such a great friend to Bree and I love him so much 🤧 Alice! MY GURL!! U REALLY SAID IM BRINGING ALL THE FRIENDSHIP AND BANTER VIBES!! I would honestly take a side story of just bree and Alice hanging out or having a girls day. Selwyn, it's no surprise that in Bloodmarked you stoll find ways to be snappy AND sassy as hell. I need you to drink so more calming tea with William. His role in Bloodmarked really showed me more of his vulnerabilities and insecurities despite at the moment being the strongest one, power wise, in this group. I think he is still moody as hell but hey! Can't say he's not being true to himself. Nick!! Ah that's baby boy right there! Although he was not in this as much as I would've preferred or liked I know I'll be getting my licks back in the future book 👁....right....🧍🏿♀️ but the moments we did have always stood out to me and we're quite memorable. Bree!! Lovely lovely young lady coming into her own 🤧❤️. Going through this book in her eyes along with her friends was not only super engaging but also very stressful. I mean like this girl CANNOT CATCH A BREAK! I WAD HUFFING AND PUFFING WITH HER!! The way that she handled situations while being stubborn still came from a place of trying to help a friend or someone else. She truly has a heart of gold 🥰. As for power and strength wise she definitely pushed herself to the limits while still feeling like she wasn't doing enough. Her constant doubt and insecurities in her abilities definitely made me feel for because she has this heavy weight of expectation to basically pick up the same pace as all the other legendborns who have trained all their lives while she's had a few months. The romance.....I'm a breenick stan and I know u see sel on that cover. I'm not a fan of love triangles okay! I ate up all the breenick crumbs I was given and I'm chewing on the plate now Tracy! And I definitely see how moments between Bree and Sel could sway others but I was not moved much. I did like that Sel was being nicer to Bree LOL The way Arthur and Bree's rootcraft ancestors like Vera both are trying to guide or really push bree in the direction t...

Chapter 1 1
THIS IS THE part where I hesitate.
Logically, I know I'll be fine. I've escaped half a dozen times, no problem. Wards are barrier magic, but the one outside my bedroom window was cast to keep intruders out, not to lock occupants in.
Still… it feels like a smart idea to test the silent, shimmering curtain of light that surrounds the Lodge before I fling my whole body through it. Just in case.
I raise a hand to the open window and press until my palm hits aether. The silver-blue ward flares at my touch, but doesn't put up a fight. Instead, it ripples in a sluggish wave over my knuckles and wrist. Prickly and warm, but harmless. My fingertips ease through the iridescent layer to meet crisp night air on the other side. When I withdraw my hand, the magic calms again.
Excellent.
The wind picks up, blowing a wave of harsh scents in my face: Bright, spicy cinnamon. Warm whiskey. Smoke from long-burning logs.
Sel usually recasts his wards in the early evening before Shadowborn activity rises, so his aether signature is still fresh. He can only place barriers around specific and immobile locations. Buildings, circles of land, a room. I was moved into the Lodge-against my wishes-precisely because it sits behind a fortress of protective wards. This one in particular wraps the brick and stone and is stronger than the ones he used to cast, making it impossible for someone to enter the home without the assistance of a Legendborn or Merlin.
I've only been the Scion of Arthur for a month and already I know a little of what Nick must have felt his whole life. Stifled. Trapped. Powerful and powerless, all at the same time. Restless.
"Phew." Another gust hits my sensitive nose. I wince and turn. Glance at the bedside alarm clock. Ten thirty.
Almost time.
I fall back on the bed with a huff. Sel and the Legendborn are probably just now reaching the first stop on their patrol route, the small tract of woods down near the south end of campus. No matter how hard I try to relax, my entire body is a coiled spring. Even my jaw is clenched tight while I wait.
A biting breeze blows through the open window, this time tickling my cheeks with the chill of early fall. A reminder that winter is on the way, and that time is passing us by.
I shouldn't be here.
The same phrase runs through my mind every day. No matter where I am or what I'm doing, those words will bubble up from somewhere deep in my gut, flow up the back of my throat, and sort of… crash around in my brain.
I shouldn't be sitting in this English classroom, listening to a lecture. I shouldn't be eating a four-course meal in the Lodge dining room. I shouldn't be sleeping on a soft bed, safe behind the Lodge's walls.
I'm certain my friends have guessed what I'm feeling by now. How could they not? Greer sits beside me in that classroom, so they see my bouncing knee. They can probably tell that I'm ready to launch out of my chair at any moment. I sit down for the four-course meal, but Pete is right there at my elbow when I poke at the food on the plate and forget to eat it. When the Legendborn return at two a.m. from their late-night patrols, I am always awake, waiting at the door to greet them.
The Legendborn are in a holding pattern. I am in a holding pattern. We have been, ever since the events of the ogof y ddraig, the cave of the dragon. Ever since I-we-faced murder and betrayal and ever since bitter truths were revealed.
Ever since Nick was taken from my side as I slept, abducted by Isaac Sorenson, the powerful Kingsmage bound to Nick's own father. No one has heard from or seen the three of them since.
Frustration lives in my stomach like a piece of coal these days-and just thinking about Nick's capture stokes it into a painful flame, bright and familiar.
A month ago, deep under Carolina's campus, the spirit of King Arthur Pendragon Awakened into the world-and within me, his true descendant. His Awakening signaled that Camlann, the ancient war between the Legendborn and Shadowborn forces, was coming once again. And the very next day the Regents, the current leadership of the Order of the Round Table, instructed us to do… nothing. We are to attend classes, take tests...
