Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Novel) Vol. 1

Also known as MDZS, the blockbuster danmei/Boys' Love novels from China that inspired comics, animation, and the live-action series The Untamed--which amassed billions of views, including on Netflix!
This historical fantasy tale of two powerful men who find each other through life and death is now in English, for the very first time.

Wei Wuxian was once one of the most outstanding men of his generation, a talented and clever young cultivator who harnessed martial arts, knowledge, and spirituality into powerful abilities. But when the horrors of war led him to seek a new power through demonic cultivation, the world's respect for his skills turned to fear, and his eventual death was celebrated throughout the land.
Years later, he awakens in the body of an aggrieved young man who sacrifices his soul so that Wei Wuxian can exact revenge on his behalf. Though granted a second life, Wei Wuxian is not free from his first, nor the mysteries that appear before him now. Yet this time, he'll face it all with the righteous and esteemed Lan Wangji at his side, another powerful cultivator whose unwavering dedication and shared memories of their past will help shine a light on the dark truths that surround them.
This Chinese xianxia fantasy novel series built around the romanticized love between two men (danmei) has been translated into numerous languages and spawned a multimedia franchise that has taken the globe by storm, including the massively popular live-action series The Untamed available now on Netflix, YouTube, and more. The Seven Seas English-language edition will include exclusive, all-new cover art from Jin Fang (jinzillaa), interior illustrations from Marina Privalova (BaoshanKaro), and a translation by Suika (yummysuika) with editor Pengie (pengiesama).

This book is so heart wrenching and amazing. I wish I could give Wei Wu Xian everything he deserves and just fight all his enemies. I love LWJ and NHS. I’ve read the book, watched the animation, and the drama. All are beautiful and just as heartbreaking. It’s really deep and I didn’t know what I was missing out until I read the book. I definitely recommend it. Mine came in perfect condition and I love the character guide, the illustrations, and just the extra information that comes at the end. This is wonderful, thank you so much. Time to read Heaven Official’s Blessing!

Thank you, SevenSeas, for keeping the titles and some other terms in Chinese. It adds so much to stories and relationships between characters when they use proper forms of address/nicknames instead of just translating everything to English or one name (looking at you Netflix). Sorry this isn't a proper review; if I tried to review the book it would just be a bunch of fan girling over finally getting a licensed English translation. But I will say this, while maybe not for mass market appeal or to be picked apart by critics, there is a reason this is so popular among danmei/BL readers. It's just a really fun read.

Finally is here, and is amazing! And the details they put into it around the pages, the glossary in the back , description of characters, paintings...just perfect! Waiting for the release of the other 2 volumes next year.
Personally, I'm overjoyed that I'm finally able to own the physical copy of Mo Dao Zu Shi (mdzs) and I look forward to release of volumes 2,3,4, and 5. I liked how they included guides and glossaries so that readers can learn and understand more about Chinese culture and its language . I hope that others that are just getting to know about mdzs and danmei in general are able to enjoy this book as much as did. Though, for those who aren't familiar with this mdzs be prepared to cry a bit. Though your tears will be rewarded with the flirty interactions between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. I recommend checking out the donghua, manhua, and drama adaptations of mdzs and, the other two works by author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu.
