The eBook worked great and is formatted right (Kindle's app has improved quite a bit from what I remember a few years ago) and the book itself is one filled with action as well as interesting paradigms. I don't want to spoil it for you but if you can get past a little bit of "old timey" style in the writing, the content itself is amazing.

Riveting interweaving of plot, with generally believable characters, this novel is an enjoyable excursion into early American life during the Puritan era. The noble savage ideal is played out with a remarkable character. The women are much more realistic than James Fenimore Cooper’s. The relationships between the indigenous people and the English are agonizing and decisions are complicated rather than prescriptive.

The book itself was in decent condition which is where the 3 stars come from. Reading the book was a different story. It was confusing, which was expected since it was written such a long time ago so it was written in different wording than we use now. Once you get past the different writing style, to me the book was still the most boring book I have ever read.

This book is a good page turner. It will keep you in suspense with its many twists and subplots! It is written in the flowery style of its era; which may be a lost art form. It frequently uses biblical concepts as a means of supporting aspects of the puritan lifestyle of early Massachusetts in a somewhat satirical manner. The characters are quite interesting, some are quite hysterical. Reading through the adventures of the Fletcher family, the fears the colonists had of living with the Indians as well as the exploits of Hope Leslie was not only intriguing, but also delightful.
