a soft, padded cover, full color end papers and a collection of scripture and inspirational musings from author, Sarah Young. Sarah turns the focus of this iteration of “Jesus Calling” to a batch of scriptures especially for Mom’s. Many contemporary translations are used with New International as the primary, (any scripture not noted is NIV), others include: Amplified, New King James, Holman, New Living, Messenger, New American Standard and English Standard, each with their respective abbreviations. I wouldn’t really call this a book of devotions, it’s more a collection of contemplations. Young took passages of scripture and reworked them into personal applications, remembrances, warnings, exhortations. Sprinkled thru the book are 14 lined pages called “A Prayer for My Children”. My youngest sister is still raising 2 teenage girls and this type of book is just perfect for her hectic lifestyle. There’s no chapters, no specific order and it can be read in 2 minutes at a time or 2 hours. Whatever your specific needs are at any moment, “Jesus Calling for Moms” can be a welcome companion. All things considered, nicely crafted, good size to easily take it along; a nice gift📚

I am a huge fan of the Jesus Calling books. The Jesus Calling books are books that I gift almost everyone. I love that a new one just for moms came out. One of the things I love about her books are it doesn't matter what religious denomination one is. Her books are faith based and appropriate for all including those who practices spirituality at home but perhaps not at a church. I haven't met anyone who didn't love receiving her one of her books. This is 151 pages of bible verses and meditations. In going through where my own life stands right now, this book is a blessing to me to have the opportunity to review. The first page had me teary eyed when I read "Mothers are one of God's most grace filled earthy gifts. Mothers wipe tears, fill hears and tend to the needs of their families. They make unseen sacrifices and carry burdens tenderly. A mother's love mirrors God's love..." To say, this is playing out in my household right now. Going through the book, there are beautiful photos that automatically relaxed me. Beautiful bible verses. Beautiful meditations like in the other Jesus calling books. Periodically through the book it has a page where Moms can write their own prayers for their children. It isn't written like the first one where there is a mediation for everyday. Instead, there is a meditation on many pages. On others there are photos and inspirational verses from the bible. I enjoyed immensely reading as much as I could in one sitting. To remember, I don't have to read all of it in one sitting! Amongst so many other verses that touched me while looking through this to review, the last page and another one spoke to me as a Mom- "Give up the illusion of being in control of your life..." The other page talks about letting go to God. Can't control everything! Sometimes we need to hand it over to God even if we have to repeatedly do that! 5 stars easily- this would make a beautiful gift for every mother of EVERY AGE. It is a beautiful book. Add it to a basket with tea and a pretty tea cup and anything else a Mom needs to have a moment to herself, it would make a beautiful gift!

This is one of those books that's nice to keep on your night stand or side table to flip through when you need 10 min away from your kids. It's not really a devotional and I'm not a super big fan of the way it's written in first person, as though they are direct words from God's mouth. The Bible is God's only Word to us, writing likes this makes me worry people will think these are new words from God. I mean, they all seem theologically grounded. There's nothing conflicting to Scripture. They're nice thoughts and encouragements. I likes the prompts sprinkled about to write a prayer for your children. There are lots of Scripture verses, but no large chunks. Just lots of verses here and there with no context. There's lots of pretty full color pictures, mostly floral. And there's a gifting to and from page in the front. This isn't a quiet time devotional but it does have a place as words of encouragement on a day mom needs to feel loved, too.

I am a big fan of the Jesus calling devotional so I was anxious to choose this book for my mother. I like pretty much everything about this book. I love that it mixes scripture from the word and sentiment that you can just hear the Lord whispering in your ear. Even though the comments that you’re reading that are not the scripture verses from the Bible, they are based on the word. I love that. I love the illustrations that they have sprinkled throughout the book as well. There is one big difference between the Jesus calling devotional and this book for mothers. The difference is there are no calendar dates or designated daily readings. It is just all straight reading. You can read as much or as little as you want each day since it is not segmented out for you according to a calendar date. I also like that it has a ribbon bookmark that is sewn into the binding of the book as well. I do plan on giving this to my mother but I am disappointed with one thing. When I received the book it was not wrapped in plastic or paper or even placed in a bag. There are some scuff marks on the outside cover. I’m going to work on that and try to clean it up before I give it to her. I’m pretty confident I should be able to make it look like new. I’m not sure if the dirt came from inside the box or from the printer.
