Editorial Reviews

"Little Blue's fans will enjoy the animal sounds and counting opportunities, but it's the sparkling lights on the truck's own tree that will put a twinkle in a toddler's eyes."

There are lots of Christmas books out there but this is the best one we've found for our son. It immediately became his favourite book and he especially loves the Christmas tree lights.

I recently asked for a recommendation on Christmas books that were somewhat unique… Different than your usual classic Christmas story. Someone recommended this book to me, and It looked right up my car-loving son’s alley. Boy was I right! He’s 2.5 and has a speech delay, and lately he’s been in an anti-book phase. I’m used to him shutting the book on me after the first page. He’s been bringing this to me all night to read!! 🙌🏼 He also picked up on the story quickly and has been finishing the sentences (great for building vocabulary!). This book is great because it’s simple but still has a nice story line. It’s simple enough for distracted toddlers to follow! The illustrations are gorgeous, and the animals are so cute. I love that it incorporates counting, common sounds/action words, animals, and general Christmas themes. This is perfect to start reading early before the holiday season, especially before you go and get your Christmas tree. I highly recommend this for all ages, but especially 2 year olds. The tree lights up at the end… such a wow factor!! ✨ This is also on the Amazon fire tablet for free (on FreeTime), so your little one can read it wherever they are. Hope this helps! ☺️

Little blue truck Christmas was a huge hit with my 3 year olds preschool class! It was my turn for reading and craft time and we needed a holiday theme. (There are a ton of great little blue truck craft ideas online for btw) We found a free printable LBT page on Pinterest and cut out a truck for each kid, along with trees to deliver. They all really loved the last page with the blinking Christmas tree lights! It was definitely a short book but they all requested several encore performances:)

We’ve always liked the Little Blue Truck series. Nice flow. Only issue I have is the book binding. ALL the pages were not glued together as it’s supposed to, as normal books should. When you turn the pages, you can literally see gaps in between each pages. Big huge gaps in each and every pages! I thought it was just the one book I had. But when I returned it and got a replacement, it was the same! So it’s all like that. I guess. Because the two books that was delivered to me, it ALL had gaps in between each and every pages!. So sad. So annoying. Because I know my 3 yr old will try to and will tear each pages apart because of the gaps. 👎

TL;DR: shine your phone flashlight on the lights and they will activate. They do not light up in dark rooms. I never write amazon reviews but this one is really important. My friend sent this book for my toddler and he LOVES IT but the lights only worked like twice. It was a real bummer and a huge tragedy every time we got to the last page. So I ordered another one, opened it when it arrived, and hooray! The lights worked. We read it that night and the lights would not work, much to my son’s dismay. Tonight I was reading it again (we read it nearly every night) and my son said “awww, the lights don’t work.” I told him I was sorry about that, that even the new one doesn’t work anymore and sometimes that’s just how life works. Then my husband said over the monitor: “shine your phone flashlight on the lights.” I assumed this would provide an optical illusion, but did it anyway - and they lit up!! Every single time! They seem to have some sort of sensor that causes them to not activate if the room is too dark. So shine your phone flashlight on them and have a happy kiddo.
