March to the Majority: The Real Story of the Republican Revolution

New York Times bestselling author Newt Gingrich takes readers behind the scenes of the Republican Revolution in 1994 and the rise of the modern GOP to show how we can lead America toward a more conservative, prosperous future.

The story of Gingrich's rise from college professor, to architect of the Contract with America, to Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives is historic. There were many adventures, personalities, missteps, and victories on the road from a seemingly permanent House GOP minority to the first Republican majority in 40 years. These untold stories and inspiring lessons about the rise of modern conservatism are immensely relevant today as the United States faces profound and extraordinary challenges.

Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich joins with former National Republican Congressional Committee Executive Director Joe Gaylord to bring alive the stories, events, and activities that led to the Contract with America and the first re-elected Republican majority since 1928. No two people are better positioned to tell this story than Gingrich and Gaylord. They were there, and they got it done.

Gingrich and Gaylord share never-before-told stories about:

Ronald Reagan Richard Nixon Tip O'Neill George H.W. Bush Bill Clinton, and other fascinating political figures
March to the Majority is not only about the past, but also about the challenges our nation faces today and offers principles for governing the American people.

Editorial Reviews

"Anyone who wants to understand how and why American politics are the way they are should read March to the Majority. This is the essential story of how a stale, seemingly permanent Democrat majority in Congress was defeated by a passionate group of men and women led by Newt Gingrich who wanted to change Washington and help Americans prosper."―Larry Kudlow, Host of Fox Business Network "Kudlow"

"Our nation is at a tipping point with a media bias and agency politicization unlike we have ever seen before, and we need to know where we've been to know where we're going and how best to get there; March to the Majority is the guide to get us back on track."―Sean Hannity, host of The Sean Hannity Show and Fox News' Hannity

I love this book. It provided a great perspective back during Newt's time as Speaker, and our politicians focused on the needs of the American people. The lessons in the appendix by Joe Gaylord can be invaluable to today's youth, for those who want to enter politics or everyday life. Great work, Newt! Looking forward to your future books.

With a mix of political history, personal anecdote, and campaign insights, Newt Gingrich and Joe Gaylord give a fascinating account of the long march to a Republican majority. Whether you are new to the topic or lived through it all decades ago, you'll love this book and its inside story of how history was made.

March to the Majority is truly an exceptional book that offers a profound understanding of American politics and the power of grassroots movements. The book serves as a captivating roadmap, with Newt providing a behind the scenes perspective about the strategies and tactics employed during the historic Republican Revolution in 1994 that led to the first GOP House majority since 1928. This is a must read for every American.

This book is a MUST READ. It is part biography, part political strategy and just some really fun stories, like "Harrisburg Needs a Zoo". Even former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich had to start somewhere. There are also some great stories about President Reagan. I'm ordering another copy for my Dad for Father's Day.

This is essential reading for anyone looking to understand how the architects of the 1994 Republican Revolution planned and executed one of the the most important political events of the last 60 years. But this isn't just a history book - the authors (Gingrich and Gaylord) apply the lessons they learned from their decade long effort to the current political situation. The political perspective of the authors is that of Republicans, but the history and the general lessons about politics are applicable to anyone looking to better understand the 80s and 90s and principles about how to win elections.
