Overlord, Vol. 15 (light novel) (Overlord, 15)

The world is all yours.

War with the Nation of Darkness is inevitable-or so the Theocracy's leaders believe with every part of their beings. With such an obvious threat on their borders, there's no time to waste on lesser concerns, so they decide to eliminate the elf king who has been a thorn in their sides for too long! Meanwhile, Ainz sets out for the elf country on what he's decided to call a paid vacation. His real goal is to create an opportunity for Aura and Mare to make some friends their age-even as the Theocracy armies march on the capital! The twins know their wise ruler has his hopes pinned on them and won't stop until they bring this forest under the control of Ainz Ooal Gown!

Volumes 15 and 16 were originally supposed to be one book but were split in two because it was too long. It’s obvious this this wasn’t meant to be a two part-er. Seems like they split the story at the end of the first act which makes this book a bit unfulfilling to read. Not terrible, but to me it’s the weakest book of the series by a large margin. IMO it could’ve been shortened to fit both books into one. Or at the least it should have had more story to it and not just set up for the next one. Oh well! Still a big fan and the next book will be here in 4 months.

After 14 volumes of hinting at it the MC finally drags the twins to find the dark elf's in search of friends. Though it takes forever to get there, and the book ends shortly after. This one is more of a build up to what is to come in volume 16 and probably 17. Hopefully there won't be a year or two wait for the next volumes...

So happy to finally have another installment of Overlord. If I had one complaint it would be how short this volume was compared to the earlier volumes. That said, I still wouldn't hold that against the author. I know how hard it can be to produce meaningful content and just the fact the author has stayed with this series for so long is in itself a blessing. Please keep working hard for us Mr Author sir. ^_^

I'm a huge fan of overlord and own both the anime limited editions and the light novels and I have mixed feelings on this volume so bare with me 1. The good the elf King is a pos that you want Ainz to get rid of good introduction to a side villain problem is he's only in the volume for a few pages won't see him again till the next volume. Another thing that is cool more is some call backs to minor characters from earlier volumes it makes you remember that not every minor character is simply forgotten about and of course the Theocracy in the background at the beginning planning for the war to come. Also Albedo acting sus again... Plus spoilers we finally get more dialogue/text of one of the god-kin that we have seen in the anime about damn time at the end of the volume good setup for the next volume. 2. The bad this novel felt like a filler novel like I wanted to like that they were exploring the elf kingdom but the more you read the more it feels like a disappointing volume considering what happened in the previous volume and what lead to it to me this just feels out of place the good news this is part 1 so hopefully the next volume really picks up the pace because we only have a few more volumes before the series ends. 3. The ugly the amount of times Ains keep telling us that he's trying to make Mare and Aura friends was getting annoying. I also did not care for a single side/minor character in this volume when talking about the elves they were all forgettable which was hella disappointing considering we usually have a character we might like when we are introduced to a new area and a pov from that said new character. 4. This volume is honestly really forgettable only the beginning with the Theocracy, the elf King introduction are memorable and the minor segment of Albedo's plan? and the ending with the God-kin dialogue hopefully the next volume surprises me. If you're an Overlord fan you'll still get it but once you read it you'll just read it again later for the beginning and ending the middle portion of the volume can be summarized in two sentences They go to the elf village get info and Aura defeats and gets a new pet with the village people treating her as a powerful elf that's it.
