I’ve followed John in his Preppy Kitchen on social media for awhile. I love his kicked back approach to some next level recipes. The book however is where’s it’s at folks. The recipes are not the standard fare. John goes above and beyond with scrumptious yet easy to follow instructions for dishes that will impress any dinner guest. I’m making the fall pear dessert this weekend for our friends and can’t wait to plan this years holiday meals from this cookbook! Thank you John! Keep up the great work.

This book is of the quality that you would expect from John Cannell. It's beautiful visually. The recipes hit the mark on being enticing and so well explained that they are doable to anyone who can read, He is the perfect blend of creativity, enthusiasm, and skill that combine to make a book that, even if you don't make anything from it, will still be rewarding for the content. It's a joy jut to read it and look at the pictures of the food, the farm and his beautiful family. Whenever I'm feeling down, watching his videos is the perfect pick me up.

I pre-ordered this book as I was interested in the recipes listed as examples. I got the cookbook yesterday and I am already planning out recipes for the rest of the year. I feel so inspired by the collection of recipes John Kanell has carefully put together. They all have a special combination of familiar yet creatively challenging. I felt like I could taste each and every recipe title, especially since the photography is absolutely gorgeous. If you want a collection of fun recipes that will bring some fire to your heart I think you should give this book a go. As for me, I am off to the store to pick up supplies!

With some cookbook letdowns this year, John’s book finally delivers what we have all been waiting for: creative, accessible, and reliable recipes. Many cookbooks make you choose between creative but hard to find ingredients/ techniques versus easy ingredient lists and directions with no creativity. John has somehow managed to hit all three marks—the recipes are creative and easy to follow (and shop for) while bursting with creativity. And most importantly, the recipes work! As a recipe developer myself, this book is what I aspire to create with my own work. Absolutely wonderful, John!

I gave this book 5 stars because I love John Kanell and his family so much but mine was printed upside down! Are they all like this? I mean, I can just turn it around but it's a bit disconcerting, since I was looking forward to his book for months. I was going to get a copy for my son for a gift but I'd rather give him one that is printed correctly. I haven't looked at all the recipes yet but at first glance I was disappointed that it didn't have more of his basic recipes that I love. But I do love John and Preppy Kitchen! Thank goodness for his videos and recipes online! ❤
