Ruby Fever: A Hidden Legacy Novel (Hidden Legacy, 6)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews is back with the newest book in the exciting Hidden Legacy series-the thrilling conclusion to her trilogy featuring fierce and beautiful Prime magic user Catalina Baylor.

An escaped spider, the unexpected arrival of an Imperial Russian Prince, the senseless assassination of a powerful figure, a shocking attack on the supposedly invincible Warden of Texas, Catalina's boss... And it's only Monday.

Within hours, the fate of Houston-not to mention the House of Baylor-now rests on Catalina, who will have to harness her powers as never before. But even with her fellow Prime and fiancé Alessandro Sagredo by her side, she may not be able to expose who's responsible before all hell really breaks loose.

Turns out all the events from 'the previous books are connected and they all lead to one person. Arkan an assassin ------ the man responsible for the murder of Allessandro's father----- he will not rest until he has also killed Allessandro and Catalina for interfering in his plots and schemes. The man is invincible and he also has an army of highly skilled magic users at his disposal. It will take everything the Baylor family has and everyone they know working with them if they are going to survive the upcoming battle, they will even be forced to turn to old enemies for aid. But not winning this fight would mean the destruction of everyone and everything they hold dear. Great story as always, the side characters are superb especially cousins Leon and Bern. Baby sister Arabella has also matured into a very interesting woman. There's plenty of humorous dialogue to enjoy and I hope we soon get another trilogy probably Arabella's but I would love to see Leon centre stage as well.

Four and a half stars. When the Speaker of the Texas State Assembly is very publicly murdered in a restaurant owned by Linus Duncan, the Warden of Texas, and Linus himself is unconscious after having ingested a potentially fatal dose of a drug designed to protect him from attack by a Mental Mage, Catalina is catapulted into acting Warden. Alessandro is having troubles with his Italian grandfather. There's an extremely rare and deadly spider loose somewhere in the compound. Cat and Alessandro are trying to track down and eliminate the Russian assassin Arkan. A member of the Russian Imperium is snooping around, and there's the usual big explosions, crazy magic, and Cat discovers a whole new facet of her magic. What can I say? A triumphant end to Catalina's story. How can a 370 page novel feel like a short story? is it the writing? The story? The way you just plunge in and emerge hours later surprised to see you're no longer in Texas? Loved it and didn't want it to end.

It's fast paced. It's full of suspense. It's romantic and it's magical. It starts off with Catalina making a gruesome and distressing discovery. Linus is out of action and just like that, she is Deputy Warden. Alessandro is there to support and protect her. Action is aplenty and magic abounds. They have to face enemies from different Houses. Someone wants Catalina and Alessandro dead. Alessandro is out for revenge. His grandfather is still plotting to sell him and reverts to bullying, blackmail and intimidation. He can save the family fortunes if he gives in to his grandfather. His matchmaking isn't very subtle. Catalina learns the truth about her lineage. It's unsettling at first and once she has all the facts, she comes to terms with it. That doesn't mean that she isn't hurt and disappointed, but family sticks together. The whole story packs a punch and I hope that there is more to come. I would love to learn more about Arabella. Is there a romance on the horizon for her too? I sure hope so! It's a real page turner with many twists and turns. It's romantic and Catalina and Alessandro get their happily ever after. I am left wanting more.

What a conclusion to Catalina's story. I was truly riveted from beginning to end. So Much Happens in this book, and so many questions get answered. It's been wonderful reading the character development and the maturing that Catalina goes through, in not only her books, but throughout the whole series. She really comes into her own skin here and realizes her full potential as the Head of House Baylor and as a Prime Siren. I loved reading her series. I also loved getting a little more of Nevada and Conor here too. Even from the small appearances they make, you can also see how much Nevada has really settled into her roles and powers as well. This final book was action packed and full of revelations. I'm so happy for how it turned out and I'm sad to see it end already. This series is one of my all time favorites. It has everything I look for in books: Great plot, Great characters, Great world building, Great writing, and Strong female protagonists that feel real, flawed, and relatable. And I can't forget to mention what great counterparts the men are to their leading ladies! Conor and Alessandro are so supportive and really helped Nevada and Catalina settle into the world of Primes where they belonged. I know there are no promises to write an Arabella book, but I truly hope Ilona and Gordon feel the inspiration to jump back into this world and give us an Arabella series eventually. She is someone I would love to read about. Her powers alone are fascinating, but her personality would make for another intriguing and unique trilogy. In conclusion, the Hidden Legacy series is a win in all categories for me, and this finale to Catalina's trilogy just adds another one. I'm seriously going to miss everyone in the Baylor family! ...But at least there's always rereads : )

I have been waiting for the end of Catalina’s story arc for quite some time and simply put, it was absolutely perfect. It encompassed all the action and fast paced complicated plot lines of the previous 5 books AND wrapped up some deliciously tantalizing plot thread easter eggs that had been left dancing in the wind over the whole series. To say that Ilona and Gordon have twisty, devious minds is an understatement. Simply put, this is an astounding ending to Catalina’s trilogy and also a possible end to the Hidden Legacy series. They managed to wrap everything up Ruby Fever in an amazing way, but also left a door open for more if they choose to do so that will not make anyone upset if it doesn’t come to fruition. I look forward to whatever they may choose or not choose to write in the future. I usually do a short plot summary in my own words in the middle of my reviews, but I neither want to spoil the story nor reveal too much. Since this is book 3 of Catalina’s story, I can’t really go into too much detail. Alessandro and Catalina tackle an army sent to destroy them. We get to see all of Catalina’s family in action and also many new characters. The family pulls together as only Baylors can and do. This story pulls you in and doesn’t let you go for one moment. You will simultaneously want it to know how everything ends, but also want to savor it as long as you can. It was the exact conclusion the series deserves. It was everything I wanted and even more than I could have imagined. The final showdown is as epic as they wrote in the Kate Daniels series. I love how Ilona and Gordon were able to take their characters and grow them into the powerhouses they were at the end. This series kept getting better with each book. I hope they eventually write more since it’s one of my favorite PNR series, but in the meantime, I will be rereading. Yes it’s that good. It’s also excellent in audio.
