Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos (D&D/MTG Adventure Book) (Dungeons & Dragons)

Rollicking campus adventures for the world's greatest roleplaying game.

The greatest minds in the multiverse meet at Strixhaven University. Professors convey fantastic secrets to eager students, and life on campus is frenetic. But danger lurks even here. Campus hijinks mix with mishaps and sinister plots, and it's up to you to save the day.

Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos introduces the fantastical setting of Strixhaven University to Dungeons & Dragons, drawn from the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering. It also provides rules for creating characters who are students in one of its five colleges.

Characters can explore the setting over the course of four adventures, which can be played together or on their own. Each describes an academic year filled with scholarly pursuits, campus shenanigans, exciting friendships, hidden dangers, and perhaps even romance.

Includes four brand new D&D adventures that can be played as stand-alones or woven together as a campaign from levels 1–10
Adds a new playable race-an owlin, one of the owlfolk who study at the university
Includes a bestiary of over forty magical creatures and NPCs
Experience D&D in new ways through the academic challenges, extracurricular activities and jobs, and relationships explored on campus
Includes a beautifully illustrated double-sided poster map that shows Strixhaven's campus on one side and important locations on the other
Attend an elite mage university, choose your college, and adventure your way to graduation
Adds new player character options including feats and new backgrounds for first-year students at Strixhaven

My son has been waiting for this book to come out and was super excited to receive it last night. However, the copy we received is backwards and upside down? Why?

If you really like Harry Potter and always wanted to roleplay a campaign at Hogwarts, err Strixhaven, then this book is for you. In fact, its what made me buy it and will DM the separate adventures for my group. Lots of feelings of nostalgia for those that loved the campus life of HP but in this Magic setting. Everything from relationships with fellow students to a stadium for wizardly sports to receiving grades for classes are part of this setting. My biggest concern as a DM, however, is that this book really tilts towards PCs needing to be magic classes. Yes the book says Strixhaven is for every class but it's really for those players that want to use magic in some form. Otherwise why are they at Strixhaven? The martial classes will feel out of place in several areas of this book unfortunately. If your players want to play magic users then this book is great for them! It may be a challenge if you have players that don't want to cast spells or even a mixed group of magic and martial classes.

Thankfully, my copy wasn't printed upside down. Although, I haven't had the chance to go through the entire book, because I was rather caught off guard by the red ink stains I found on several pages, so who knows, maybe I'll find an upside down page or two. It really sucks, because this was meant to be a gift, but given what I'm seeing in the other reviews, I'm not sure that ordering a new one would do me any good.
