The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
"This book blew my mind! Utterly original and unique."-Sophie Hannah, New York Times bestselling author
A murder mystery novel inspired by Agatha Christie with a dash of Groundhog Day and a hint of Quantum Leap and Downton Abbey.
Aiden Bishop knows the rules. Evelyn Hardcastle will die every day until he can identify her killer and break the cycle. But every time the day begins again, Aiden wakes up in the body of a different guest at Blackheath Manor. And some of his hosts are more helpful than others. With a locked-room mystery that Agatha Christie would envy, Stuart Turton unfurls a breakneck novel of intrigue and suspense.
The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a breathlessly addictive mystery that follows one man's race against time to find a killer, with an astonishing time-turning twist that means nothing and no one are quite what they seem.
From the author of The Devil and the Dark Water, Stuart Turton delivers inventive twists in a thriller of such unexpected creativity it will leave readers guessing until the very last page.

"This book had me mesmerized from the very first page to the last. A totally unique premise and a beautifully plotted tale told with breathtaking skill. One of the best books I've read in a long time. Every page either sparkles or fizzes with beauty or danger. This is a real mind-melter of a novel from a writer who has complete mastery over his work. If more people could write like this, who'd need cinema?" - Imran Mahmood, author of You Don't Know Me
"Pop your favorite Agatha Christie whodunnit into a blender with a scoop of Downton Abbey, a dash of Quantum Leap, and a liberal sprinkling of Groundhog's Day and you'll get this unique murder mystery. The twisting, cleverly-written debut . . ." - Harper's Bazaar, 10 New Books to Add to Your Reading List in 2018
"Atmospheric and unique, this is a mystery that adds "Who am I?" to the question of whodunit, with existentially suspenseful results." - Foreword
"My favorite mystery so far this year, it's Agatha Christie, Groundhog Day, and Black Mirror mashed up into the kind of tale you just can't put down." - Sarah Cation, Canadian Living
"Bonkers but brilliant. It's an Agatha Christie manor-house mystery – with a Black Mirror twist. Kept me engrossed and guessing throughout, and I still didn't figure it out." - Kirsty Logan, author of The Gracekeepers
"Dazzling. A revolving door of suspects (and narrators); a sumptuous country-house setting; a pure-silk Möbius strip of a story. This bracingly original, fiendishly clever murder mystery ― Agatha Christie meets Groundhog Day ― is quite unlike anything I've ever read, and altogether triumphant. I wish I'd written it." - A. J. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to fans of Agatha Christie or Josephine Tey. It was interesting and just the kind of light read I needed for a recent holiday. The chapters were short enough you could stop and go and not get too lost when picking it back up.

When the book begins you do not understand anything however it is still gripping. The book is really great the more you get into it the more exiting it becomes. Then why 4 stars? The ending!! it is not awful it is just underwhelming. Good book to get started into mystery, easy enough read, entretaining.

I loved this book in the beginning. And then, I didn’t. As I read, I actually got bored with the constant storyline revelations, the increasingly frenetic pace, and the repetition. I gave up on page 358. I absolutely hate not finishing, especially when I’ve already invested 357 pages. But I really just didn’t care how it ended anymore.

I read this on someone’s recommendation. For that reason, I forced myself to finish it. I found the plot confusing, the atmosphere dark and depressing, and sadly, I didn’t care about the characters, any of them. A who-dunit mixed with time travel, a murder mystery that died at the hands of its own cleverness.

My book club HATED this book. We have met for 10 years and this was one of the lowest rated books. It’s confusing, too many characters and a lousy ending. I cannot believe this book was highly rated.
