The Autobiography of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X was intended to be a true autobiography, with the name of Alex Haley appearing not at all or as a ghost writer or as a mere contributor or assistant. However, with the assassination of Malcolm X having occurred in Harlem in New York City on February 21, 1965 just before this book could be published, it became necessary to reveal the important role of Alex Haley in creating this book.

I personally relate to this book..like many black African Americans do. its a story of struggle and mental and spiritual accomplishment through time and life itself. may Malik al Shabazz rest easy.

The book is an insight into the life of Malcom X. from the beginning of his life, turning points and mission before he died. You are introduced to his point of view and people he was connected to that influenced him to become the man he was before his passing. You will gain an deeper understanding of who he was and what he stood for.

I recently bought this copy of his autobiography to replace one I lent out to a friend, but am disappointed with the quality of the book. The text is still the same and represents an incredible person, but the paper used inside looks like printer paper rather than the standard creme color for books. This makes it really hard to read plus the cover is blurry. All this is to say the book is amazing, this copy is not. I recommend the black and white copy with Alex Haley's name in red.
