The Bone Hacker (22) (A Temperance Brennan Novel)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kathy Reichs returns with her twenty-second high-stakes thriller featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan who, following a series of bizarre disappearances on the islands of Turks and Caicos, enters a sinister labyrinth in which a new technology may wreak worldwide havoc.

Called in to examine what is left of a person thought to have been struck by lightning, Tempe traces an unusual tattoo to its source and is soon embroiled in a much larger case. Young men-tourists-have been disappearing on the islands of Turks and Caicos. Seven years earlier, the first victim was found in a strange location with his left hand hacked off; subsequently, two other visitors vanished without a trace. But, recently, tantalizing leads have emerged and only Tempe can unravel them.

Maddeningly, the victims seem to have nothing in common-other than the odd places where their bodies turn up, and the fact that none seems likely to have been involved in criminal activity. Do these attacks have something to do with the islands' seething culture of gang violence? Tempe isn't so sure. Disturbingly, she discovers evidence that what's at stake may actually have global significance.

It isn't long before the sound of a ticking clock grows menacingly loud. Then Tempe herself becomes a target.

Editorial Reviews

"While the plot is suitably attention-grabbing, it's Brennan's character that keeps us glued to the page. In a genre full of strong female protagonists, she's a standout."

Another great mystery in this series! It does not disappoint! I like that they aren’t always predictable and take a turn at the end.

I loved the different location. Great interactions with Monck and Musgrove and the usual uncooperative feebs I felt Slidell coming through Monckton at times Loved this book.

I am a huge fan of Kathy Reichs books - and her real life forensic anthropology too, and was enthralled with this latest book. Such interesting facts entwined with a great story. A cover to cover read that leaves me waiting again for another to be penned in this series.

Kathy Reich's has done it once again. How does she do it? I don't know, but I love and admire it. She continues to tell stories that keep you engrossed and she includes enough factual information, you believe the characters are real. I hope there will be more Temperance Brennan novels. Thanks Kathy for another engaging read.

A page turner from the beginning. Ms. Reichs doesn’t waste words by getting long and drawn out. No page long explanations. Everything is precise and to the point. Just when you think you know who did it, she throws in another “clue” or “roadblock.” I have been following Dr. Brennan since the first book came out. This is one author I eagerly await to hear she has a new one coming out.
