The End and the Death: Volume I (8)

Book 8 in the Global best selling The Horus Heresy: Siege of Terra series.

There is no way out.

The walls have fallen, the gates are breached, and the defenders are slain. It is the end and the death. After seven brutal years of civil war, the Warmaster stands on the verge of victory. Horus Lupercal, once beloved son, has come to murder his father. The Emperor, a shining beacon of hope to many, an unscrupulous tyrant to others, must die. The lives of uncountable numbers have been extinguished and even primarchs, once thought immortal, have been laid low. The Emperor's dream lies in tatters, but there remains a sliver of hope. Now, at the final hour of the final day, the Emperor rises. With him come his Angel, his Praetorian, and his Captain, all determined to enact terrible vengeance. Yet the hope is slim, for the Warmaster sees all and knows all, and the ultimate victory of Chaos is at hand.

There is no way out.

Totally worth the wait. One of the best warhammer books. You will enjoy it. The audiobook is top notch, the performance is always great. Many secrets are revealed. Great read and listen.

Heard about this Horus Heresy series mentioned somewhere online, and just realised upon receiving this book its related to that old kids game called "Warhammers". I think I'll give this one a shot! Don't know what I'm in for, but looking forward to it!

As the Heresy reaches its final and perhaps, inevitable, end given the lore of the Warhammer 40k universe, Dan Abnett gives us another slice of the final battle. Homeric slices of battle and doom, along with some of the final chapters of the characters we've followed through the series. You'll definitely want to read most of the Siege of Terra books and some chunk of the other Heresy novels, but in a world that expects you to watch 30 Marvel movies and eight Star Wars series, no big deal, right? Highly recommended for fans of the Horus Heresy!
