With nods to Bridget Jones and Pride & Prejudice, this debut is a delightful queer rom-com about a free-spirited social media astrologer who agrees to fake a relationship with a grumpy actuary until New Year's Eve-with results not even the stars could predict!

After a disastrous blind date, Darcy Lowell is desperate to stop her well-meaning brother from playing matchmaker ever again. Love-and the inevitable heartbreak-is the last thing she wants. So she fibs and says her latest set up was a success. Darcy doesn't expect her lie to bite her in the ass.

Elle Jones, one of the astrologers behind the popular Twitter account Oh My Stars, dreams of finding her soul mate. But she knows it is most assuredly not Darcy... a no-nonsense stick-in-the-mud, who is way too analytical, punctual, and skeptical for someone as free-spirited as Elle. When Darcy's brother-and Elle's new business partner-expresses how happy he is that they hit it off, Elle is baffled. Was Darcy on the same date? Because... awkward.

Darcy begs Elle to play along and she agrees to pretend they're dating. But with a few conditions: Darcy must help Elle navigate her own overbearing family during the holidays and their arrangement expires on New Year's Eve. The last thing they expect is to develop real feelings during a faux relationship. But maybe opposites can attract when true love is written in the stars?

"Bellefleur has a droll, distinct voice, and her one-liners zing off the page, striking both the heart and funny bone. She has a gift for comedy, possessing more style and panache than a debut writer has any right to... There's a sparkling quality here, one that mirrors the starry title. Bellefleur writes as if she's captured fairy lights in a mason jar, twinkly and lovely within something solid yet fragile." - Entertainment Weekly (Best Romances of November)

This was adorable, a cute fluffy sapphic romance with some great spice 👀 It was very readable and I loved all of the characters. It was very run of the mill but sometimes that’s just what we need, especially from a queer romance perspective as there was no focus on coming out or anything like that. Docking a little bit as the constant fanfiction/pop culture references got on my nerves a bit and the frequent references to harry potter annoy me.

his book tells the story of Darcy, the analytical, fiery red head, and Elle, the free spirited, open minded astrologer. These two couldn’t be more opposite. However, put into an awkward situation by Darcy’s brother the two have to pretend to be head over heals for each other. With unexpected chemistry and a surprising amount in common, can these two ladies keep up the facade? Or will they actually fall head over heals in love? This is an adorable spin on the classic Pride and Prejudice. I found this to be a very funny read, with great one liners and loveable characters. It had the perfect amount of romance and steam 🔥 I really loved Alexandria’s writing and the story that she has written. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Some are comparing this to Jane Austen’s classic, ‘Pride & Prejudice’. In fact there are very few similarities apart from Elle having an older sister named Jane, a younger one named Lydia and a love interest named Darcy. Austen’s. most famous and best creation is surely Elizabeth Bennet in ‘P&P’. Elizabeth is feisty, witty, fiercely intelligent and doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Elle (whose full name is Elizabeth) is no Elizabeth Bennet. She’s a believer in astrology, follows her gut over her head and is, as she herself admits a ‘mess’. The only characteristic that she really shares with fiction’s best (IMHO) heroine is her unwillingness to ‘settle’ for less than she thinks she deserves. This follows romantic lesfic’s well trodden path in terms of how it all plays out. I’ll not spell it out for you, suffice to say that there are really no surprises. But, for some reason (which isn’t entirely clear to me) it seems to have reached a much wider audience than standard lesfic and that has to be a good thing, surely?

It took me a little while to get around to reading this one but I’m really glad I did! It is a lesbian and bisexual woman, fake dating, opposites attract! Darcy and Elle could not be any more different but were both endearing in different ways that was so much fun to read. They had a disaster of a first date, enter a fake relationship with chemistry that is hard to deny. I loved how Darcy stood up for Elle with her family, I would have loved to see more of that- it was a shame there wasn’t an epilogue to this story. Super easy and fun read but had plenty of moments and quotes where I stopped and was really moved by the words! Spice was 🌶 to 🌶.5 but it really fit into the story, I didn’t mind that it wasn’t super spicy- the rest of the story and characters make up for that plenty.

Opposites attract in this funny, well-written book about a practical and logical accountant and a breezy, seemingly flaky astrologist. Blind date goes bad but funnily enough, develops into a fake relationship that in turn develops into a real relationship. The accountant is smart and sophisticated, a bit of an ice-queen, uses logic and plans to build a new path in her life after a devastating heartbreak. The astrologist is warm and outgoing, a bit on the clumsy side, brilliant in her own way and well-attuned to her gut. They have very little chance of connecting but as circumstances bring them together, they get to know each other, learn to trust, and the undeniable chemistry is burning high between them. supporting characters are a brother, good friend, and a rich disapproving family, creating an ensemble that brings banter to the forefront. Horoscopes become clues in the middle of the plot, text messages are a whole new level of banter that provides the MCs a chance to reveal their funny side. This book is highly entertaining, I laughed out loud several times, it’s interesting, the conflicts are real but easily solved once communication improves. This is a first of a trilogy but stands on its own. Well worth the read. T&T: Tropes: opposites attract, faux relationship, ice-queen, grumpy/sunshine, rich girl/poor girl (not exactly but close enough). Triggers: overbearing family, underlying biphobia, infidelity (offpage).
