A Game of Gods (Hades x Persephone Saga, 6)

Told in multiple POVs, A Game of Gods is the final installment in the Hades Saga by USA Today Bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair.

Hades, God of the Dead, has finally made Persephone his in every way possible. With their wedding on the horizon, the couple should be ecstatic. But Demeter is wreaking havoc on their bliss by battering the whole of New Greece with erratic and dangerous weather. At the same time, Theseus continues with his agenda against the Gods, allying with the hate-group Triad in an effort to bring down all of Olympus.

Hades refuses to allow anything to stop him from securing Persephone as his bride, but he must play a deep strategic game with the Gods of Olympus to safeguard their future. And it is not entirely clear which Gods are truly on his side.

This was a solid 3.5 star out of 5 for me. I have read all the books in this series and have enjoyed each of them to varying degrees. Book one from Persephone's POV remains my favorite, but I have struggled a bit with the books from Hades' POV and I did struggle with this one. I had yet to read A Game of Retribution when I started my reread of this series in preparation for reading this. One thing that bothered me as I read through the series again and in order was the repetition of scenes, especially the spicy scenes. At times, that overlap felt tedious because the text itself was so similar and I caught myself skimming. Where this book excels above the previous ones in the series is in the multi-POV approach. The added perspective of Dionysus and Theseus added a dimension to the story that I actually really enjoyed. Theseus is awful, but being aware of just how awful he really hints at the immense battle that Hades and Persephone will face in A Touch of Chaos. I do think we got a more thorough glimpse of Hades in this book as compared to the other two books from his perspective. He remains my favorite character in the series and the only major complaint that I have is that there was too much smut (I know that sounds nuts) instead of the deep dive into Hades character that I was itching for. It is for this reason that I have deducted stars. However, I am still very excited to read A Touch of Chaos when it comes out later this year. Some things to note: - Multiple POVs - Lots of spice (like a lot, almost to the point of redundancy) - Trigger warnings for death, violence, and sexual assault among other things

Diving back into Hades head is one of my favorite things to do. Just seeing how much he’s changed in his mentality since ATOD is staggering. Yes he’s very much still the alpha-hole male but he’s also so much more in love with Persephone and it’s so beautiful to see. To see how much he thinks about her…and not just in a spicy way. Yes Hades is basically a walking…ya know when Sephy is around but his love for her is endless. I’m always completely amazed by the amount of detail Scarlett puts into her books and I think the Hades pov series is a shining example of that. You read Persephone’s pov and think you have a grasp of the story…haha jokes on you. The amount of events, people, and just sheer feeling Scarlett has added to this books is…*bows to the queen of smut. She’s amazing. If you are thinking that the Hades Saga was just written for extra money or for funzies….you couldn’t be more wrong. Scarlett wrote this series but cause WE (her rabid fans) asked for it. She took something that I honestly would have been happy with it being just a rewrite of ATOD in Hades head. She took it and made it something so much more than I could have ever dreamed, something so intricate and fantastic I can’t even put it into words. So in short READ THE HADES SAGA or be lost in A Touch of Chaos.

The things that exited me and I loved so much about this book : - Multiple POV - Just the right amount of spice - The characters and world building was perfection - Fated mates I loved everything about this book. I adore Scarlett’s writing and books so I knew that this story was going to be yet another one that I couldn’t get enough of. We follow Hades & Persephone through this one and they sure didn’t disappoint. I loved following their story though this book. This book was definitely a page turner all the way to the end. I can’t wait until the next book to see what is going to happen next. If you enjoy the things listed above please do not hesitate to add this book to your TBR. I definitely will be purchasing a physical copy of this book and I’d love to get my hands on an audiobook of this!!!

It was wonderful being back in the world of New Greece with Hades and Persephone! This series has become so nostalgic for me. I just love Hades & Persephone so much. This installment follows the events of A Touch of Malice, but from Hades' point of view, and it's the last in the Hades Saga of this series. Getting Hades' side of the story in a full length novel is one of my favorite things about this series, too. He's such an enigmatic character on the outside, and sometimes even with Persephone, that being able to see directly into his mind and inner workings makes all the strife and worry and angst SO worth it. I also *loved* the additional POVs in this book! It added so much detail and depth to the plot. I loved the new relationship we got, too! Give me more!!! As always, while this book is filled with god-related drama and discord, it's also infused with a passion that's desparate and powerful and true with endless pining and yearning and need and lots of spice. I lived for those moments between each of the couples in this segment. There's truly never a dull moment, especially for Hades. The ending is break-your-heart good and I am dying to find out what happens next! Thank you to Bloom Books for the early copy!
