Charlotte's Web (Trophy Newbery)

Don't miss one of America's top 100 most-loved novels, selected by PBS's The Great American Read.

This beloved book by E. B. White, author of Stuart Little and The Trumpet of the Swan, is a classic of children's literature that is "just about perfect." This paperback edition includes a foreword by two-time Newbery winning author Kate DiCamillo.

Some Pig. Humble. Radiant. These are the words in Charlotte's Web, high up in Zuckerman's barn. Charlotte's spiderweb tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur's life when he was born the runt of his litter.

E. B. White's Newbery Honor Book is a tender novel of friendship, love, life, and death that will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come. It contains illustrations by Garth Williams, the acclaimed illustrator of E. B. White's Stuart Little and Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series, among many other books.

Whether enjoyed in the classroom or for homeschooling or independent reading, Charlotte's Web is a proven favorite.

Of course, this is one of the greatest stories ever written. I read it as a child, and am reading it now as a 75 year old woman. I love it just as much as I did when I first found it. It's a timeless masterpiece! How good it is that Amazon put it in it's daily Deals section. I look forward to reading it again when I am happy or sad or lonely or content. It moves me deeply whenever I read it again. Wilbur and Fern will always live in my heart.

I bought this book to introduce my child to chapter books but also wanting him to experience a classic piece of children's literature versus just buying him whatever the craze book series is these days (but yes, even those can be good too) . Book is a nicely bound hardcover, was only two dollars more than the paperback and was an excellent value from the price. Thank you Amazon for making good editions of books available at reasonable prices.

Amazing book--get it from another source, however. Whoever adapted this for Kindle must not have looked it over before publishing it. It's so awful--the first paragraph of each chapter is completely mixed up. The font in some chapters is actually written in red--and they are almost impossible to make sense of. Almost all "rt" letter combinations read as "nn". It may be a good test to see if you can solve puzzles, but at a cost of nearly 4 bucks, you'll struggle to read this classic children's book.

The book itself is great, the Kindle version is poorly done. You would think each page would be the same as the pages in the actual book, but they aren't. No book would put "chapter...." at the bottom of the page and continue the title of the chapter on the next page. There are also sentences that cut off and have a different sentence inserted in the middle, then go back to the original sentence. The viewing is all messed up because it isn't actual pages from the book. I'm extremely disappointed that I paid money for this.
