Crimson River

A small town, romantic suspense story from Wall Street Journal, USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author, Devney Perry.

Lyla Eden has spent the last few years watching her siblings fall in love. Meanwhile, she's married to her job. It's on her hundredth consecutive workday that her sister stages an intervention, kicking Lyla out of her own coffee shop. With nothing else to do, Lyla sets out on her favorite hiking trail.

It's there that she spots a man washing blood from his hands in a stream. One moment she's staring at the jagged scar on his face. The next, his hand is around her throat. But by some miracle, he lets her go.

Shaken to her core, Lyla reports the incident to the local police. Two days later, Vance Sutter arrives in town, armed with endless questions and a tarnished badge.

Vance may be ruggedly handsome but he's as mysterious as the man he's hunting. And he'll be gone from Quincy in a blink. Yet Lyla's crush is impossible to stop.

No matter how hard Vance tries to ignore it, there's no denying the chemistry between them. And avoiding Lyla is not an option. After years of chasing dead ends, she's his only lead to closing the case that haunts his career. So together, they'll retrace her steps.

To find the scarred man she met beside a crimson river.

Oh this book. There aren’t enough words. This whole series has me in a chokehold and I never want it to end. I don’t know what Devney puts in her books but they draw me in and pull out every emotion possible. And this was no different, it was a masterpiece. The chemistry and connection between Lyla and Vance was instant and so strong, I was immediately invested in them and their HEA. Vance wasn’t what I expected, in a good way. Their relationship developed so beautifully alongside the mystery and suspenseful storyline that they became each others safe space. The plot of this book is probably my favourite of the series so far. The suspense, the chemistry, the dynamic between the small town and the Edens, the banter, it was all there. The suspense built and just when I thought I had it figured out, there was a twist, it kept me completely enthralled. Highly recommend!

Book title: Crimson River Author: Devney Perry Series: The Edens #5 Star Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steam Rating:🌶️🌶️🌶️ I absolutely loved this book! It’s right up there with Juniper Hill as my favourite of the series! I can’t even tell you why I loved it cause I’d spoil the book! But I’ll try and tell you what I can. Lyla’s sister stages an intervention to get her to have a day off from work as she been working nonstop. Even though she doesn’t want to go, she does and ends up going hiking. Unfortunately on her peaceful hike she has a near death experience after being strangled by a bloodied stranger. Enter Vance Sutter, a cop, who rocks into town asking Lyla questions about her incident. Her case could be the lead he needs to solve a case. I loved the instant connection Vance and Lyla had, they truly felt like soulmates. And even they they were together for such a short time, it felt they’d known each other forever, they just matched each other so well. She was the soft & sweet to his broody & mysterious ways. If you loved the whole murder mystery in indigo Ridge then you’re going to Love Crimson River! The perfect small town, romantic suspense!

I knew I would enjoy this book from the minute I started it. I loved Lyla as a character she was so hardworking and gentle. While Vance had walls built high around his heart him falling for Lyla was inevitable. I liked how he was protective of her. The book was well written so I could emotionally connect with both the plot and the characters. Also it gets extra points for how the plot took a complete twist in the end because it took my by surprise. Overall the story was artfully balanced there was passion, chemistry, mystery and humour. Waiting for Sable Peak now!

Romantic suspense + small town romance! Lyla is married to her job. On her 100th consecutive day working, her sister kicks her out of the coffee shop, so Lyla decides to go hiking. Along the river, she’s attacked by a man. He lets her go & shaken to her core, she reports the incident. Vance shows up in town, with a lot of questions. Despite how mysterious he is, Lyla can’t help the crush she has. Read if you love… - MCs in their 30s - romantic suspense - small town romance - dual perspective - cameos from all past MCs - hiking, outdoors, wilderness survival - FMC coffee shop owner - MMC police officer - get it out of our systems, but we caught feelings This is the fifth Eden’s book and it’s officially tied for first (with book 2) for my favorite in the series! I completely forgot this one is a romantic suspense, so that pulled me in immediately. I loved the twists and turns of trying to solve what happened to Lyla and Vance’s connection to him. As per usual for a small town series, I loved all of the cameos from previous MCs and the whole Eden family. I loved getting to catch up with different couples and see where they’re at. And I loved the set up for the next and final book in the series! As someone who loves hiking and camping, I loved that instead of just telling the reader Vance was searching for the person who hurt Lyla, we got chapters from both Vance & Lyla’s perspective where we were out in the woods. And I loved the whole “let’s get it out of our systems but we caught feelings” trope! Trigger warnings: child death / murder, past; violence / injury detail, on page; drug abuse, past

Just when I think this series couldn’t possibly get any better, Perry raises the bar and delivers this masterpiece! With a touch of danger, a jaw-dropping twist, and an enviable, soul-deep love, this one has everything your romantic heart could ever want. Layla Eden is one of the last siblings to couple up, but then she's pretty much married to her job. Yet her pride and joy, Eden Coffee, doesn’t keep her bed warm at night. And it may be burning her out a bit, if her siblings are to be believed. When her sister insists Layla take a day and go hiking, Layla agrees. What she didn’t bargain for was stumbling on the mountain man rinsing blood from his hands in the river who throttles her within an inch of her life. The next day, Vance Sutter rolls into Layla's coffee shop. Spotting the bruises from her altercation, Vance suspects Layla had a run-in with the man he's come to Quincy, MT, to find. Cormac McAllister is the worst blemish on Vance's record as a cop, and four years later, he's still looking. No amount of attraction between him and Layla can stand in the way of Vance's search for a fugitive from justice. This isn’t his job; it's personal. This phenomenal read held me in its grip from beginning to end. Of course I love getting more of the Eden family, and I couldn’t get enough Layla and Vance. But it also made me think. How far would I go, how much would I blur the lines, and how willing would I be to look the other way when it comes to protecting someone I love? These are things Layla and Vance are faced with. Seriously, if you haven’t read anything in this series yet, you’ve got some catching up to do because all of the books are must read. But this one? It’s in a class all its own! You can start with this one and then catch up on the others since they all stand alone. If you’re a Perry fan, you'll be snatching up this one and flying through it. We'll all want to be caught up when Matteo's book comes out!
