In an extremely unusual choice for any romance novel from the HP line, and for LG in particular, Raif, a 27-year-old, bronze-complexioned, Middle Eastern prince, is a virgin. His romantic counterpart, Claire, is a sweet-natured, porcelain-complexioned, British citizen in her early 20s. In another rare artistic choice for LG, Claire has obtained a college education and launched a successful career as a talented pastry chef. Similar, however, to virtually every LG heroine, Claire is a virgin. Claire and Raif meet by chance, are instantly, emotionally and mentally compatible, and both decide they've met the person they want to lose their virginity with. Given that this is a romance novel, in spite of his complete inexperience, Rafe performs in the sack with the expected virtuoso skill of all of HP heroes, with no motivation offered as to how this is possible. I don't think I've ever read more than one or two sheikh romances from LG in which the couple marries for any other reason than the fact that the heroine becomes pregnant, and this story is no exception to that rule, which creates a classic, marriage of convenience plot. In addition, as is the case in every sheikh romance I've read by LG, the Muslim faith is never mentioned or practiced by a single character, making this story yet another in a long line of HP, alternate-reality, Middle Eastern settings. Raif is what is currently labeled in the romance biz as a "cinnamon roll" hero, which in the past was called a Beta hero, as opposed to the classic Alpha or "dark and dangerous" hero. If you are looking for a relaxing, undemanding read, this romance novel might be just the ticket. There is no Evil Other Woman and, in fact, no antagonist or villain whatsoever.
