Cute but not the same as the original book from the movie. Truly falls short.

Elf is a Christmas tradition in our house. This year since we could not be together to watch it, I ordered this book for my daughter and her husband. As I watched the movie, I added notes to the book about some of our favorite scenes. They were very pleased when they received the book with my notations at Christmas.

We got this as our annual Christmas book purchase since we are big Elf fans. It is cute if you like book versions of your favorite Christmas movies. There were a couple things left out that I thought would have been good but book adaptations are never perfect--it is a fun read and satisfies the Elf book craving at Christmastime.
Im so happy that i went with this book. I was searching for this exact book and two others showed up and from the reviews on those they were not what you would expect it to be. Elf is my favorite movie and i watch it all year long. I love books and wanted to have this to read to my sons, found it here for cheaper than thriftbooks, it arrived on time and in obvious new condition and had that lovely new book smell. I love the illustrations on both the front and the back. The story is a tad different than the movie and i dont feel as though they ruined anything, Its a great buy and kids will want to read it all December!

My kids adore Buddy the elf and his enchanting adventure story. They’re elementary aged. Seeing them snuggled up on the couch older one reading to younger one and acting out the speech bubbles is priceless. They know the movie well and do not say anything about missing every single detail from the movie. They instead focus on the part when Buddy leaves the North Pole and have Mr. Narwhal’s voice down pat. Then, they enjoy reading the story verbatim as Buddy tells his story… they just giggle and enjoy the giant book in their tiny little hands. The laughter and cheer this book brings is beyond words. If you are seeking a sweet story for Christmas snuggle time, this is it. If movie-perfect illustrations and storyline details need be present, this is not it. It is just right… for us.
