Sisters First

A lovely, lyrical ode to the magic of sisterhood by beloved former first daughters and bestselling authors Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush.
A young girl's wish is granted when a new sister arrives. While the baby can't do much, over time the big and little siblings become inseparable, playing and dancing, imagining and laughing. By each other's sides, they are smarter, kinder, and braver than they ever thought they could be. And they are forever sisters first.
This exquisite celebration of the bond between sisters is inspired by the spirited childhood of Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, authors of the #1 New York Times bestseller Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life.

Love this book! I got it for my sister for Christmas. I read it and wow Jenna it is my and my sister's life story. I wrote on each page for her, to add to it. When my sister opened it, she was touched, but as she read each page written by Jenna and then added our story in my writing, is brought her to tears and I got a "this is best gift ever" and got a big hug. I highly recommend this book to sisters. Jenna and Barbara did a excellent job.

If you have a sister, like me, or have two daughters, also like me, then you absolutely need this book. I have a 3 year old and 6 year old girls and I have a sister who is three years younger than me. I bought this for my girls for Christmas. I couldn't wait to read the book so the second I received it I went into my room, opened the book and read it all by myself. I'm glad I did because I wept, I mean alligator tears. It instantly brought back sweet memories of my childhood with my sister and flooded me with all sort of mother emotions for my sweet daughters. You must buy this book. It's also a very sweet second baby gift to give someone who will be having two daughters.

This is a great gift for sisters. While its intended age range is from 4-8 years old, this is a wonderful gift to give that loving sister in your life. I gave it to my sister for her December birthday as the story resonated so strong between us. “Sisters First” is the great tale of an older sister praying for a little sister because she is lonely and needs a sister to play with and love. After the sister she prays for is born, the two go on adventures with their imagination and enjoy a lifelong friendship. This book would be a great gift for a little girl when mommy brings a new baby sister home, or to remind two sisters of what they have together. It is a great story of love, friendship and family. @fourseasonreader

This was fine but a little disappointing. The illustrations are lovely- and I like that they portray a diverse group of sisters- but the writing is awkward. It feels like a first draft that was never edited or directed. The prayer poem that is repeated throughout the book is especially awkward and a little nonsensical. I also wished it had featured something about conflict between sisters in the storyline- something about how they don’t always agree but always love each other and are best friends. This is only hinted at when the big sis finds the baby a bit boring- but that is already covered in lots of other “you’re going to be a big sister” books. I felt like they missed an opportunity to acknowledge sibling conflict.
