I enjoyed seeing Jean Stoffer on TV, so I pre-ordered her new book. I am so disappointed in this book because it has very few photographs of her beautiful work. It looks like a novel with a few photos scattered among the pages. Personally, I have to see photographs then read the descriptions to help me get the overall “view.”

I don’t to understand the one star reviews. The McGee book was all autobiographical and has 4.5 out of five stars. That book was pure fluff comparatively. This is beautifully organized and executed biography. It has real world advice for anyone thinking of starting their own design (or really any) business. That paired with well selected imagery and a touch of faith gives the reader something to sink their teeth into. Five stars!!!!

I was looking forward to this book and it was a beautiful read. Very inspirational and authentic. While some might be wishing for more photos of Jean’s work, go online. Her work is showcased by project on her website or Instagram. This book was about her journey through the years, not about each design project. I preferred reading about how she got to where she is and inspired me to take it slow. I highly recommend this book!

First, I really LOVE Jean Stoffer’s design work…I think she’s brilliant and her projects are so inspiring and swoon-worthy! Unfortunately, this book is not really the book about Jean Stoffer *Design* that I was so excited to receive. It’s really a memoir — which is certainly interesting — with some design photos (not a lot) inserted here and there. She seems like a lovely person and I knew going into it that she’s a devout Christian. But after reading through some of the pages, as a non-Christian I was somewhat turned off by the proselytizing tone in spots. To each their own and I’m not here to criticize her beliefs. I just saw that Jean Stoffer book was coming out, so I preordered and anxiously waited…hoping that I could admire pages and pages of her gorgeous design projects. And that wasn’t what arrived today. I think I’ll stick to following her design work on Instagram…
