Do you want to know how many people are employed at the White House? What their duties are? Did you know the President usually brings his own chef, well some did. Its a wonderful story about what goes on behind the scenes.

I made the mistake of getting this book for my granddaughters, thinking, by the cover, that it would be in color, and geared toward children. The whole interior is black and white, with only a few photos and diagrams, and the text has not really figured out it's audience. Some passages seem to be for older children, some for adults, and someone needs to disable the exclamation point key on the authors' computer keyboard. After getting over my disappointment, I read it myself and did enjoy parts of it. I will be donating it to our local library.

This book was everything I was looking for to answer all the questions my fourth grader had about the White House. From learning about the White House staff jobs to moving day to secret service code names to pets to where the Vice President lives, this was an informative and fun read. Two other things worth noting: this is a recent release (December 2020) so the information is current and Kate Andersen Brower is a New York Times bestselling author of several books and is an accomplished journalist. We hope you enjoy this book as much as we did.
