The enemies to friends to…maybe more….by Vannetta Chapman was delightful to read. I enjoyed the fact that Bethany and Aaron were forced to work together or be without a job. To watch them grow and allow the past to heal was wonderful because that’s often how life works. Chapman always writes humor and quirkiness into her books and that keeps me reading. This book works as a stand alone but do read book one, An Amish Proposal for Christmas, as the Yoder sisters are so much fun. I look forward to reading more about them! If you enjoy Amish fiction then I recommend Her Amish Adversary. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

This is the second book in the Indiana Amish Market series, and it can be read as a standalone novel. Chapman's characters are well-developed and realistic. Their struggles (such as Bethany's fear of change) will likely resonate with many readers. I applaud Chapman for creating a character who lives with Bipolar Disorder, as it's nothing I've read in an Amish-themed novel before. The way it is portrayed, along with the impact on loved ones, is well done and handled in a tactful manner. Bethany and Aaron's relationship develops in a natural way and doesn't feel rushed. They're an easy couple to root for throughout the story. The faith element is woven throughout and isn't preachy. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.

Her Amish Adversary has a everything that this reader wants in a novel. Wonderful characters who made me smile at times but also tugged at my heart. It was a joy to reconnect with the Yoder family and to meet a new family, and to find out what was going on at the Amish Market. I loved the rivalry between Bethany Yoder and her childhood nemesis, Aaron King, they are like oil and water. She has her ideas of how the RV park should be and he has his own ideas, but they need to work together to turn a profit. They are very entertaining and fun to get to know. My heart went out to Aaron and his family and the challenges they face. It’s a sad situation for them and I think the author did a fantastic job of telling their story. I am loving this series and look forward to the next book in the series. If you like well written fiction, you will love this book, although this second book can be read as a standalone, I suggest you read the first one to get acquainted with the family and the market. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

HER AMISH ADVERSARY by Vannetta Chapman is the second book in the Indiana Amish Market series. It’s the entertainingly delightful story of Bethany Yoder, manager of the RV park at the Shipshewana Outdoor Market - owned and managed by Amos, her father - and Aaron King, who Amos has hired unbeknownst to his daughter to help run things at the RV park. Bethany has always preferred to be off by herself than one of the crowd. That’s one of the reasons running the RV park had fit her so well. That is until the morning she showed up for work to find Aaron inside her office, which she knew she had locked. She didn’t know which feelings to feel first – frustration at seeing the one man in all the world she least wanted to see “ever”, sitting in HER chair in HER office or anger for the mud he’d tracked in including on rug she’d recently made and was so proud of. She’s lived through many of her school years being teased by this man and the blunt of his mean jokes and remarks. She’s determined not to run and hide from him any longer, but would stand her ground. She’s also knows she needs to talk to her father about not needing Aaron at the RV park. Because of his dad’s bipolar disease and their harsh, unrealistic treatment in their childhood, both Aaron and Ethan, his brother, had moved away from home as soon as they possibly could. However, it was his disease and his far-fetched plans to get rich that have his parents about to lose everything – including the farm. That’s how both brothers ended up back home in Shipshewana with plans to work hard and to earning as much money so they could in order to pay off the loans their dad had taken out against the farm in order to save their mom’s home. Ethan is better with farming so he will plant and tend to the crops. Aaron is good with his hands and after working at an RV park in Florida is good at fixing just about anything to do with RV’s. In the evenings, they will work on fixing up the place the best they can. Although Aaron might not have expected an open arm welcome, he never expected the reception he got from Bethany on his first day at work. Working at the RV park could be a win/win for the both if she will just give him a try. Amos hired him and he’s determined to do a good job, earn extra money and make this work. At the meeting with Amos, Bethany presented her side about wanting to keep the RV park “simple”, which is what folks expect coming to stay in an Amish community. They like the little touches she adds like homemade cookies to make it that way. Then Aaron presented his side about how the RV parks in Florida mix the Amish simple ways with touches of the Englisch world so as to make the stay memorable while fitting in with their needs - like a little doggie park area and a community fire pit for meeting in the evenings to talk, sing and make s’mores. Amos decides that they both wil...
