This story pulls you in right away. I liked the main characters and their interactions together. The lead in this book is a friend of the Colt Brothers but the Colt Brothers are very much in this book. Well written and keeps you turning the pages. Filled with twists, danger, action, secrets, family dynamics, and romance. The ending sets up for the next book in the series. A good addition to the Colt Brothers Investigation series. I recommend all the books in the series; which can be read as standalones but does continue the brothers quest to find out how their father died.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Colt Brothers Investigation series. I have read all but the second book in this series before picking up this book. I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. This book is a fast paced action packed suspenseful book with a touch of romance mixed into it. I really enjoyed the craziness of this book, and I loved getting to know Ansley. The beginning of this book was so great, and it pulled me right into the story. I loved the crazy twists and turns this book took me on. The ending was just ok, but I can see it setting us up for the next book. I guessed some of the reveals before they were revealed, but that did not upset me. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Her Brand of Justice, the fifth novel in B.J. Daniels' Colt Brothers Investigation series takes off like a house afire, and never lets up. If you're new to this series, the cast of characters is provided at the start, so I believe it can be read as a standalone, although I can't think of reason why you wouldn't want to read this excellent series from the very beginning. It gets 5 stars from this reader. Ansley Brookshire, age 28, has recently discovered that she was adopted by uber-wealthy Maribelle and Harrison Brookshire, but as adoptive parents go, it's clear from the outset that they are the last people who should have ever adopted a child. Ansley grew up with every material thing her adoptive parents could provide--except for love, their time, and a close family bond. It's also clear that when Ansley Brookshire decides that she wants to find her birth mother, her adoptive parents, especially Maribelle, will do absolutely anything to prevent her from doing so--and the lengths they, and her finacee, Gage, go to to stop her investigation make this novel one heck of a twisty, complex, dangerous, mysterious and addictive read. Oh, and yes, there's also an unexpected romance thrown in too. Ms. Daniels doesn't miss a trick. As the convoluted twists and turns of this novel begin, my guess is that you'll have a hard time putting this novel down--I know I did. And just when you think you've solved the mystery of Ansley's parentage, and why her adoptive parents so strongly want it to remain a secret, trust me on this, you'll be as surprised as I was when the truth is finally revealed. In short, Her Brand of Justice is an edge-of-your-seat, exciting read, and I'm happy to recommend it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. Ansley is on a mission to find her birth mother and while her plan is in motion she literally runs into Buck on her way out of the PI’s office. Buck knows something is up with this woman and starts to dig into her story. Little did they know the can of worms that would be opened up! The twists and turns in this book will have your head spinning. Loved this HEA story.

A fantastic book that starts with a rush and never lets up. Some questions from the earlier books are answered, while new questions pop up. The story is fast-paced, with plenty of action, suspense, and a sweet romance. The story opens as Ansley, who has recently discovered that she was adopted, is on her way to Lonesome to hire the Colt Brothers to help her find her birth mother. Her adoptive parents are unhappy with her quest, especially her mother. When Ansley arrives at the office, it is unlocked but empty. She spies a photo on the wall that startles her, and as she takes it down to look at it, she hears movement upstairs. She grabs the picture and runs after noticing the office has been ransacked. On the way out, she collides with Buck, then runs for her car. Buck is a good friend of the Colts and grew up with them. After time in the military, then as a state patrol officer, he left the state patrol after a life-threatening injury. He's at loose ends because he is trying to figure out what he wants to do. He isn't interested in ranching with his father and brother, nor does he want to go back to law enforcement. His collision with the dark-haired beauty aroused his curiosity, especially when he learned of the ransacking. A short time later, he spots the woman in the café and stops to talk to her. When he hears her story, he convinces her to return to the Colts' office and tell them what she knows. I loved his immediate feelings of protectiveness for Ansley and his suspicion that she was in more trouble than she knew. I loved how he appointed himself her bodyguard and was determined to keep her safe. I liked how they worked together to piece together what clues they had. The more time they spent together, the more the sparks of attraction between them grew. There was also a connection between them that they couldn't deny, and I loved watching them share their pasts, fears, and, eventually, hopes. Ultimately, I loved seeing Ansley find the love she had been missing all her life. The action and suspense of this book kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. There were so many twists and turns that I was never sure which direction the story would go next. The connection between Ansley and the Colt brothers was a shock to all of them and opened up a plethora of questions. I loved seeing how each of the brothers used their investigative skills to find the answers to the growing number of puzzles they had to solve. Ansley's adoptive mother was full of unpleasant surprises. The danger to Ansley grew more intense as the pieces began to come together. I was on the edge of my seat as one attacker nearly succeeded in his aim and again as I watched Ansley face down her adoptive mother in a heart-pounding confrontation. The surprises keep coming as Ansley finally gets her wish in a scene I didn't see coming. One last...
