Kaiju No. 8, Vol. 1 (1)

Kafka wants to clean up kaiju, but not literally! Will a sudden metamorphosis stand in the way of his dream?

With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju-corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force. But when he gets another shot at achieving his childhood dream, he undergoes an unexpected transformation. How can he fight kaiju now that he's become one himself?!

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she's out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There's just one problem-he's made the Defense Force's neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.

Just finished reading and i loved every moment. The characters are fantastic. I love the comedy in here. With what i had read before purchase, i didn't think this manga would have had me laughing so much. The art is beautifully illustrated and badass at that! I can not wait for the next book to be released to see what happens next!

good Clean artwork that goes from goofy to kinetic. fun characters and a mystery. I enjoyed this volume and would like to see what's going to happen in the next one(especially with that last page)

This Manga is so much fun, I really recommend checking it out. It has heart and it actually has adults in it. I love Shonen but being 30 now it's nice to have a Shonen for older audiences.

I'll admit that I mainly bought Kaiju based on the cover, but it really hooked me on the story. Even though the story isn't the most complex it picks up towards the end of the volume. And I even got so hooked that I had to go online to binge the rest (about 40 chapters in one sitting haha) even so I'll still have to buy the volumes come out since they are translated better, and I mean having the physical manga is the way to go!
