Komi Can't Communicate, Vol. 23 (23)
The journey to 100 friends begins with a single conversation.
Socially anxious high school student Shoko Komi's greatest dream is to make some friends, but everyone at school mistakes her crippling social anxiety for cool reserve. Luckily she meets Tadano, a timid wallflower who decides to step out of his comfort zone in order to help her achieve her goal of making 100 friends.
It's Valentine's Day again, and Itan High is a chocolatsravaganza! But while most of the students are giving out goodies to celebrate friendships, Komi and Manbagi have a different goal-Tadano's heart! But do either of them have the courage to actually tell him that…?

22 volumes building up to this, then a consistent with the crazy characters rollercoaster as the Valentine’s Day event rolls out. Not sure this one would have the same impact if used as a starting point but the release of all the emotional investment was well worth the years of following this. And I know at least 2 more volumes are coming so the story still has places to go.

You know it’s going to be good when there’s a cover like that one. Now I’m sitting here trying to figure out what to put in the next 800 characters that doesn’t spoil what happens in this volume. Komi’s plot has kinda gone all over the place, and there’s been a few volumes that felt completely irrelevant, with just nothing but randomness. Ever since Manbagi showed up, the story’s been decidedly more focused on the romance part of the rom-com formula. This volume gets back to that in a big way. 10/10 No comments. No feedback. Just pure serotonin. Waiting for volume 24 is going to feel terrible.
