Good, fast-paced whodunit with a second chance at romance trope. Lila left town when her father disappeared, suspected of being complicit in a bank robbery. Now she has returned, determined to close that door and prove her father’s innocence. She has to confront her former boyfriend Stewart Duncan, now the sheriff of the town. What Lila doesn’t know is that her own investigation is going to make someone anxious to get rid of her and they don’t care how they do it. The action is fast-paced and the characters are portrayed realistically. The fear Lila felt as she was being stalked was palpable. I enjoyed the book and highly recommend that others who want a quick read with all of the elements of a good mystery read this Love Inspired Suspense book. Disclaimer I won a copy of this book from the author via a contest online. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

"Montana Cold Case Conspiracy" is a Christian romantic suspense. Ten years ago, Lila's father disappeared after Stewart's no-good father held up his bank then was found murdered without the stolen goods. Stewart moved on by working hard to prove he's not his father. Lila can't believe her father killed anyone or voluntarily helped rob his bank. She left town, disillusioned that so many people believed her father a crook. New evidence has turned up, and she came back hoping Stewart will help her prove her father's innocence. He's not interested, but someone clearly doesn't want her poking around and repeatedly tried to kill her. The main characters were likable but didn't seem like the brightest bulbs in the pack. After Stewart's convinced that Lila's in danger, he didn't even carry a gun when off duty. He's repeatedly lured away from Lila, who's then attacked. And Lila did things like wander off alone after a frightened dog, not telling anyone what she was doing. When asked once why she did something foolish, she said she wasn't thinking. Uh-huh. It didn't feel like they reacted realistically to the danger they knew they were in, which made them that much easier to target. I liked the relationship tensions between Lila and Stewart caused by their engagement being broken by their fathers' actions. Since they had that romantic past, their quick attraction (after getting back in sync about investigating the past) at least made sense. There was some prayer to God for help. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this suspenseful novel. I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

You will need your jogging pants on to read this book. The action is non-stop from the beginning pages until literally the last page of the book. Lila Christie left home a long time ago, but she left home broken hearted and left behind the love of her life, Stewart Duncan. Ten years ago a bank robbery left Stewart's father dead and Lila's father simply disappeared without a trace. Everyone in town believes that he shot his partner in crime and ran off with the loot. Lila has never believed her father capable of being a thief, much less killing someone. She has come back to town because the getaway car has been discovered. It was apparently abandoned on the side of the river and due to a mud slide , it as been covered up for 10 years. Stewart is the sheriff in town now, and he was heartbroken from their breakup as well, but he has a responsibility to keep everyone safe, so he has to put his personal feelings aside for a while. Lila knows someone is out to stop her from finding out the truth about that fateful day, but Stewart thinks she may be a little over dramatic until the bullets start flying around him. Both characters were strong, independent individuals. Lila is feisty one and gutsy as well. Stewart is a family man in that he stuck around to help his mom and family run their farm after his father's death. He is a good soul. The mystery was good and suspense filled. The action is constant as every time Lila leaves the four walls of a building or home, she ends up running for her life. The inspirational thread is handled with finesse and both parties have to learn to lean on their faith and give each other another chance. If you enjoy mystery with a little second chance romance mixed in, you will enjoy this book. Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When Lila comes back to Trident to clear out her parents' former home as well as hoping to clear her father's name, she has no idea that she is putting her life in danger! Lila left Trident and her fiancee Stewart behind after her father was accused of robbery. Now 10 years later she is back in town, and old feelings are stirred up between Lila and Stewart. Those feelings don't have much time to grow before Lila's life is endangered by someone is clearly doesn't want her to interfere with this cold case. Lila and Stewart are being put in danger time after time, but they are depending on each other for survival. This was a well-written, suspense novel with a bit of romance underpinning the story. It is part of the Love Inspired series, it is a clean read, light on inspirational talk. Fast moving and easy to read. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
