Own Your Past Change Your Future: A Not-So-Complicated Approach to Relationships, Mental Health & Wellness

Your Mental Health Matters.

We're the most technologically advanced society in history, but we've never been more stressed, medicated, or lonely. We have 1,000 Facebook friends but no one to help us move our couch. The pace of life is making us exhausted.

We're all carrying the weight of our trauma based on the stories we were told by others and the ones we tell ourselves-and those stories are like bricks in a backpack that keep us from being happy and healthy. In his new book, national bestselling author Dr. John Delony provides a clear, five-step path to being well.

You'll learn how to:

Redefine what trauma is and how to identify it in your life. Grieve and heal from past hurt and trauma. Make friends as an adult-it's not easy, but it is necessary. Change your thoughts-it's possible. Assess and evaluate your actions-these can change too.

You'll laugh. You'll cry. Your thoughts and actions will be challenged. And if you take the steps John outlines, you'll learn how to leave the past where it belongs and get on the path to healing.

To say that this is an important book would be a colossal understatement. It is transformational-really. I want every person I know to read it right now!

An essential read for those seeking to help others as well as those needing a life change. The information is relatable from the first page to the last. It resonates with your soul in such a way that it reads more as a conversation than a book. Once I began reading, it was nearly impossible to put down.

I have many words to describe this book-enlightening, profound, surprising, hilarious, accessible-but there are only three words I have, and have always had, to describe John: a good man. I envy you this first, but hopefully not last, experience with him.

Helped me tremendously! It's relatable, practical, and touches on so many crucial parts of life.

I posted a review earlier and only gave this book 2 stars. I hadn’t finished it yet and shouldn’t have reviewed it before I had finished it. I felt like it was very repetitive for the first few chapters especially when you are listening to it vs reading it. Boy does it make up for it later. It was eye opening and inspiring and I’m so thankful that I kept reading. Great book especially right now with our world the way it is and the way people are feeling. Must read!🤗

Sometimes I feel as if the examples he gives in this book becomes rambling, but the examples open your eyes to so much thoughout the book it's almost a book you need to read twice and maybe a third time. Also the audiobook is a great companion to the physical book. Overall it belongs on every bookshelf in America.

Solid read! I loved the analogy of unpacking the “bricks in your backpack” and how to deal with our past. This is a must read for everyone.

Off to a good start. Grateful for what I’ve read (and heard on Audible) so far. Looking forward to learning and healing as I go.
