Queen of Myth and Monsters (Adrian X Isolde, 2)

"I am of the House of Lara, daughter of Elvira of Nailani, sister of witches, and I have come to reclaim my crown."

Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka.

Now, as politics in the Red Palace grow more underhanded, inexplicable monster attacks plague the villages, and a deadly crimson mist threatens all of Cordova, Isolde must trust in the bond she's formed with Adrian, even as she learns troubling information about his complicated past.

The next book in the scorching, bingeable vampire fantasy series by USA Today and international bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair.

A great series so far, really excited to see where this series goes. Great plot and such good grey characters that makes for an interesting easy read.

Absolutely amazing, I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't stop reading. This book picks up straight after book one ends and it goes galloping into action from start to finish, twist after twist with steamy scenes thrown inbetween. Isolde is a fierce female protagonists that is unrelenting in who she is even when she is questioning her place in this chaotic world of theirs. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I was screaming because I eager to know where this story will lead, as both Isolde and Adrian fight for their love and Kingdom. With so many enemies and unknown variables what is next for the future. Bring on book 3.

I started this book a bit disappointed because it felt slow in the beginning, and I just didn't get a good sense of the direction we were going in. However, the book does pick up, and I felt that once it did, it just kept getting better and better, so if you start the book and it seems slow, just keep pushing. I did read a review about a complaint of there being just sex and fighting between Adrian and Isolde which there is a lot of that but I think it highlights an important part of their dynamic they are very different in their views and motives for how things should be done yet they still compliment eachother. This book was also different from the first in the sense that I thought I had an idea of who Adrian was but really he is a lot more tormented than I thought and not as untouchable as I precieved him to be the first book. This really added dimension to his character for me, but I can see how some people may not like that development into his character. I did appreciate Isolde's growth. I always liked her character, and I still do. I can also empathize with her wanting to become stronger to protect herself from always be targeted and her people. All in all I think it was a great continuation, and I look forward to the next book.

Wow. Isolde and Adrian were chefs kiss in battle and blood and the plot twists in myth & monsters had me well and truly shocked. I loved the progression of all the relationships… liked to see who Killian is becoming… like watching Isolde’s slow accent to power and the continuation of world building. Adrian just has my heart. I know il most people side with Isolde in reviews- but I relate so much more to Adrian. Isolde can be rash and dive in head first where Adrian really thinks long term- probably cause he’s 200 years old lol. On to the things I didn’t like. Ok obviously I hate the betrayals and deaths but of course it has to happen it just gutted me. Truly it gave me the ick that this is another cliff hanger. Effing hell. Makes me boil that now I haver to wait forever for what’s probably another continuation (heavy eye roll) feels rude. Tell me on the front end of this will be 1 of four or a trilogy, so I can be prepared. Nothing like getting to the final page and just a big fat sike. Second red flag more me is that the details here felt rushed. I’m hoping this isn’t a pattern for the series. I know this author has a lot of other series & might be pressured by datelines….. but she’s really such a great author I felt so cheated when the plot has holes and feels rushed. Despite that, still obviously a 5 star read.

Another amazing book by Scarlett St. Clair! Queen of Myth and Monsters solidified why Isolde is one of my all time favorite female book characters! Picking up where King of Battle and Blood left off, we are following Isolde as she discovers who she really is, or was. Not only that, but she is still dealing with the betrayal of her father and her people. She’s married to Adrian, the Blood King and the most powerful being alive. Their enemies will do whatever it takes to end him, so they’re going after the one person he cares about most, Isolde. Not only are Adrian and Isolde dealing with outside forces trying to tear them apart, but they’re dealing with a traitor in their inner circle…and let me tell you, my jaw was on the floor when it was revealed who had betrayed them. Then there’s the goddess Dis, Adrian’s creator, who sees Isolde as a threat. But even in the face of all the betrayal and threats, Isolde is still a QUEEN, and she’s on a mission, not just to free the people of her mother’s homeland, but to seek revenge on those who have wronged her. This book made me feel so many emotions. Their relationship was put to the test so many times. Oh, and I cried a time or two. There were so many twists and turns, and I wasn’t sure where the book was going to go next. And that ending…I was not ready for that huge revelation! I loved the character development though, for some more than others of course. I can’t wait for the next book in the Adrian and Isolde saga!
